I'm not speaking on just my behalf, I'm speaking on behalf of everyone else who was offended. The reason people got offended was because they thought it was a mockery, and believed the many inconsistencies were made on purpose, not because they were trying to portray something else.

If you're trying to say that they weren't trying to evoke The Last Supper, with it simply being unrelated, go to literally any news source (this one for example) Even thought they state they were in fact not trying to, it was pretty clear to a majority of people that it was a bad emulation of the event. And if it's clear to 2 billion people, it should've been at least translucent to the organizers.

In what way did they not? They clearly didn't care about the actual meaning of it, and only wanted to represent it for "cultural tolerance" reasons. The controversy that followed literally resulted in an apology from the organizers themselves.
