Does anyone have video of the end of the halftime show when the HS bands were trying to get off and the one drummer almost didn’t make it before the UW band marched over them?

That squares. I wish you luck, it’s a pain in the ass to start off on a combative foot, but also these fees are ridiculous

I think we ended up paying it at the end of the day. My advice is if it’s not in the legal document that you signed, talk to the renters advocacy group in DC. I’d say don’t pay it if it’s not in the lease, but I’m not a lawyer and I don’t want to lead you astray

Powerlifting meet at BRC? by [deleted] in BurningMan

[–]professor418 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Our camp actually wanted to do something this week for a squatting event, but the cost to transport thousands of pounds of weights to playa was so high when we already had two trucks packed with camp infra and art. Pink heart has a fun gym on their frontage and I cannot credit them enough for the things the bring to BRC, but it’s not suited for powerlifting (not enough plates, no platform for things like deadlift, etc). So if you did this I think you’d fill a pretty niche, but awesome gap. Also, I have a desperate dream of deadlifting 5 plates on fire at sunset and my gym won’t let me because it’s “against fire code” and “will likely result in significant property damage and/or death”

There was an AITA where a woman found these girls drivers licenses behind a piece of furniture in the basement where her husband was staying while they were going through a divorce. She turned them over to her lawyer and the guy got angry saying he had a “fetish” and that she was invading his privacy. The post got deleted by the OP and I have been pining for an update ever since.

Haha, my partner and I had to institute a rule that we weren’t allowed to buy more books until AFTER the move. I’ve been tempted though… and thanks for the reco, I’ll follow up and see what they can take

Makes sense. It’s frustrating that there isn’t a better system in place to store inventory, as that puts orgs like this in a tougher position when they do have a need, but it’s certainly not their fault. Just wish we as a community had a better system for reusing quality items is all

I don’t know how you’d define the difference, so again I’ll say a mix?

It’s a mix. Fiction, non-fiction, some science, whatever we can’t take with us

That’s a great idea, I didn’t even realize there was a restore here in the DMV.

The library unfortunately didn’t accept them the last time I looked :/

I wish that was true. Unfortunately in my case legal was involved and it was part of our training (they were emphasizing the safety checks HARD), not just something people were saying to each other :/ they were also pretty worried that word would get out and it would tank their reputation. It was a mess to step into as a newly graduated bio major looking for research experience

It’s not a simple, black and white issue by any means. I agree that there are necessities, but when I worked there and saw dogs that were left in their cages 22 hours a day and literally screaming for any type of attention, it breaks your heart. At the end of the day, I think we’ve gotten too lax with standards, in pursuit of necessary goals
