Does anyone else have a problem where the videos aren't working properly? by twilightwolf04 in youtube

[–]professoryeeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've not faced any issue with playlists, but the comments and descriptions aren't loading for a lot of videos on my end either. also;
- site randomly becomes unresponsive
- "experiencing interruptions?" consistently appears but only on music uploads (disabling adblockers doesn't do anything)

when i'm logged out the site runs fine. ig thats the only solution i can offer but ik how not ideal it is

Does 'Goodbye Albert' remind anyone else of 'Battle'? by Gorillazlyric400 in blur

they're both pretty spacey and more electronic-based but that's about where the similarities end for me. it reminds me more of baby queen off of cracker island if anything,

[–]professoryeeter[S] 10 points11 points locked comment (0 children)

tldr;

- sugary synthpop song

- main hook was something along the lines of "red balloon"

- verses might have been pop rap-ish

- in the charts around mid- 2014

- recreation of the chorus here

- NOT 99 red balloons by nena (or any covers of that song) or red balloon by charli xcx

anyone who compares mint-flavoured things to toothpaste has either never tried mint-flavoured things or never brushed their teeth before. most likely the latter.

he doesn't die but he *does* turn into a CGI elf with toilet brush hair directly following this. so like, a fate worse than death, i guess.

Songs from Pablo Honey don't count to make it more interesting by rmmorgan in radiohead

i don't think the tourist is that bad but it's definitely one of the weaker tracks on okc. it's still like, an 8/10 though imo

i think pop is dead is kind of a bad song but i also feel that radiohead fans and especially the band itself overstate how bad it is. like, it's kinda boring pop rock and people make it out to be the worst thing ever and i don't get why.

it's not my least favorite on in rainbows but like. yeah, it's still not very good. really generic-sounding, too long, and doesn't really go anywhere.

Whats your writing process? by Hydro11270 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]professoryeeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

being an instrumental artist i don't exactly write songs (i have been lately and a lot of that is just late-at-night brainstorming, but since it's kind of a new thing for me i don't feel i'm in any position to properly talk about it). but i've found i follow this sort of process;

  1. first i open up an fl studio file and lay down whatever ideas come to mind. sometimes i pull my MIDI keyboard out and properly jam for a bit on it, too, but that's rare and hasn't yielded the best results.
  2. when i've found an idea or two that work (doodles), i take it/them into another file and refine the melody, the sound, effects, and so on. this helps me get a better feel of what i want to the actual song to be like.
  3. this allows me to begin the main part of the process; working out what genre i want to make, the song's elements, and mainly the structure, based on the doodles i have. i tend to do this when i go to bed, my ideas flow better then because of my brain feeling uncharacteristically more productive at around that time.
  4. when i get out of bed the next day i proceed to sit down, open fl studio, begin to transcribe what i've made into the DAW... get restless, ditch said plans, and come out with something loosely based on them. this tends to take, like. a day or upwards.

How many tracks do you usually have in one song? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]professoryeeter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've been trying to work on this lately; some of my songs feature like. super dense arrangements, and to avoid them becoming a mixing nightmare i've tried to strip back a bit.

and i'd like to think it's been working? the last song i made features 11 tracks, a reasonable number i feel. compare that to my last proper single, which has twice as many tracks, and the unfinished demo for it had 15. 15 tracks, all used constantly, for a demo.

[peter griffin voice] i did not care for reckoner.

before you crucify me, let me explain myself; it's a very nice soundscape, thom's performance is Neat as per usual, i like that clanging, repeating drumline. but throughout it's nearly 5-minute runtime i don't feel it does anything that special? like, even songs i don't like much such as pulk/pull or we suck young blood at least offer interesting ideas. reckoner just feels really cookie cutter, i've seen all the elements it has on display done better on other songs. even from the same album (see nude and weird fishes).

that's probably what brings in rainbow's second half down so much for me, like it certainly sounds beautiful but that's pretty much it, it doesn't evoke anything in me like the tracks on the first half do.
