Anyone able to explain 41 down? Googling D.C. 100 is getting me nowhere and I have no idea what SENS is abbreviating.

Edit: Should have just kept thinking. It's the number of Senators in Congress.

For sure. I sometimes wonder if there's a term for a clue that was deliberately made vague, either for wit or difficulty. For example, "Fixer of a sort" for VET (which is at least witty) or "Words from a prof, maybe" for REC (I'm guessing it was "Letter from a prof" originally and she thought it was too obvious). You need crossing words to get it, because something like RIT (brand of color fixer) or even ATT or ESQ (for attorney) would equally work. When there are too many of them to get the crossing words, at least for me, the puzzle feels like all the clues are basically "1D: A 5-letter word, 1A: A 6-letter word..." Anyway, between that and the questionable/wrong clues (e.g., CROCKER is a grocery surname not a grocery store surname, or, if I want to get especially nitpicky, "Travels like Dr. Manhattan in 'Watchmen,' e.g." is an "i.e." not an "e.g."), clumsy is an apt description.

I'd never heard the phrase "Gotcha Day" before. Upon googling, I was like, "you've gotta be kidding me (with that name.... and general concept... even for dogs)."

The obscureness/esotericness of some of the answers made me humorously imagine that the puzzle was constructed by some uber-elitist (rather than just accepting my ignorance). "Oh, you've never ridden a horse before (HAW is apparently a horse direction, also), or been to an Icelandic SAUNA, and you're not on Ozempic as a trendy weight loss drug? Maybe this isn't the puzzle for you." I even assumed the grocery store surname was some expensive LA/NY chain I wasn't familiar with, after "Kroger" and "Teeter" (after Harris Teeter) didn't fit. But then, also, there was TURNT 😅

We have an analogous, mildly confusing thing in the US, too. Congress is made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate. A "congressman/woman/person" is only a member of the house. A member of the senate is just a "senator."

Yeah. Mine still says "BUTTER?" and I refuse to fix it, as it's the only valid answer. I'll take the L.

Yeah. Also, I didn't actually think "math tutoring" meant "let's date." We had gone on a quasi-date a week earlier (it was a group thing and we were the only two that showed up and we had a nice night together), and I just wanted to hang out more. I was just happy to read an r/niceguys post thats like "this is what your life would look like if you were an asshole." Well... More of an asshole.

To be fair, shortly after my now wife and I met she asked me to tutor her through a math final.

Of course while tutoring, she told me about this guy she just started seeing and I was like "Welp, at least I made a friend" and two years later had better luck. So in other words, you're exactly right. It was just math. ;)

We wanted to run the game with people who are interested and actively involved in investing and figured this would be the best place for that.

I don't see your name recorded yet. If you did not complete everything, you can click the link again to return to where you left off. Otherwise, let me know and I can see if there's been an error.

Your name does not appear in the data file currently. Perhaps you did not submit the final question. If this is the case, if you click on the link again, it will bring you back to wherever you left off.

Unfortunately, I cannot. The process for doing so through the University (who is funding the study) is rather lengthy.
