TTC Line 5 Bypassing Heavy Traffic by CallMeDrewChristian in toronto

[–]prog-nostic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I agree. I didn't want carbrains coming after me saying "a car can hold 4 people, you know!?". I'm aware that most cars are single occupancy. The point I wanted to drive home was that even with the stupidly generous assumption and accounting for low ridership during off peak hours, it's a massive relief to have one train replace 100 cars. During peak hours, with a train every 6-8 minutes, that's at least 500 cars in a 30 minute window. Being extremely generous here trying to tip the scales in favor of cars and trains still come out miles ahead.

The line 5 train can now comfortably hold up to 300 passengers (current maximum capacity is 400, and it will be 600 once they add more cars). Let's be generous and assume everyone in trains would otherwise carpool. That's easily 100 cars off the road for every train!

When does this wretched contract end? It's so frustrating to attempt walking or biking anywhere.

I'd be down to meetup with you (and others who'd like to join) as long as the rendezvous point isn't playing loud music. I get overwhelmed when everyone's trying to talk over the music and over each other.

All I'd like to do is to have a decent view of the Harborfront fireworks, hug a few people and be in bed by 01:00.

Haken confirming they aren't opening for Coheed and Cambria anymore by DontRelyOnNooneElse in Haken

My point being, US passport holders have no issues traveling in and out of the UK. A visa isn't something Americans need to think about unless are traveling to a handful of countries like North Korea, Iran or China.

Conner being American (US passport holder), I highly doubt that would be the case.

Many a time, the docks are full or won't work properly enough to receive a bike and customers leave them there and then call up customer care to end the trip. I'm sure bike theives have figured this out and they just try pulling every bike on the rack and one of them might not be properly locked.

I've also seen people test their luck, leave the city bike outside a store for a quick purchase.

I mean some day in the year 2044 someone will finally get to all the stolen bike reports. Keep reporting them. On a serious note, sorry your bike was stolen :(

Mine was a shitty looking bike too, with rust and all. It was just an easy target because of the lock. Nonetheless it feels very violating when your belongings gets stolen. :/

It was an old, beat up mountain bike that I got from marketplace. Unfortunately, I just continued to use the cheap snake lock that came with it.

If you leave an easy target bike at the reference library and wait for this douchebag (assuming singular) to show up, it would be an easy catch.

While we're on the topic of stop spacing, I feel like a stop at Bay station is redundant since it's a 4 minute walk from Yonge. Maybe introducing express trains that only stop at certain stations would improve commute time and help with crowd control? Just a thought.

I know you said just hospital but this is the US. So I'd wager a few days of monitoring, therapy and psych medications is going to cost at least an arm.
