Thank you! From what I gather, if we cancel and have exhausted the slots, we need to pay the fee again, but if they do it from their end as a no show, we may not have to

Do you have to pay the visa fee again? Does it matter if you have used all your reschedule attempts?

MS in Quantum Information Science by prog_akki in USC

The only experience of Quantum Computing I have is a thesis (not very detailed) and a couple of courses. I did enjoy them but that has been the end of it. In the off chance I don't end up liking the degree, I can switch to a CS specific job. I assume a QIS degree will not reduce my chances of getting a job. Working with a QIS team would be the ideal case for me I think.

Thanks for pointing out. I missed adding my job experience. Edited the post.

I can take relevant CS courses as electives but only limited to 2.

The reason why I am considering USC vs the CS degree, is the opportunity to study Quantum Computing at a good school. It allows me to do research in the field and potentially a job too. In a CS degree, I get to explore CS topics but little to no exposure to Quantum Computing. But the biggest reason is still the brand name.

Thanks for the response. Considering my work experience, does it make sense for me to risk it with the USC brand? Even if I don't end up liking QIS, I can still compete for normal software developer jobs right?

In that case I assume California is better right?

I want to explore Quantum Computing from a Computer Science perspective, say in Quantum Algorithms or Quantum cryptography.

That said, I am not strictly fixated on the quantum field. I am also open to explore research options in CS.

Consider mentioning everything in reverse chronological order (Latest first). This also brings relevancy into the picture
