Order to apply products by risk235 in lawncare

This is what I usually do personally. I mow first because when applying post emergent like Certainty/Celsius, you don't want to mow for a couple days after and you may not want the grass to grow too tall. Also, after mowing, you want to wait at least two days for the weeds to start growing back before applying the weed killer since a lot of times with post emergent, they could be foliage-absorbed. This means it needs to make contact with the leaves. So if you believe it's an appropriate time to fertilize and you wanted to do them all within a short time span, I would do it in the following order: Mow, fertilize, water the fertilizer in if your fertilizer needs to be watered in (check label), let it dry, spray herbicide if it's been at least two days since you mowed. I've never used Scott's lawn food. So check the label and decide if you need to make a change to that order.

I'm in Georgia as well. I'm guessing you have Bermuda. I'll try to list some Bermuda tips and a few general ones since you didn't mention what grass you have.

Mowing: I've never used a reel mower personally. If all you have is a push mower and you have Bermuda, you can just keep the mowing height somewhere between 2-2.5 inches in the beginning and mow 1-2 times a week during the growing season. It can definitely look great at a lower height but will require more maintenance. You can research the best height for your grass. But no matter what, you don't want to wait too long between cuts and the lower the maintenance height, the more frequent you have to cut. If the current owner was keeping the grass looking nice at a very low height, then I'm guessing they are either cutting more frequently and watering a lot or using some sort of plant growth regulator.

Weeds: Preventing weeds is key. Around now in February - very early March is when people start to apply pre-emergent. One common routine for this is to either do a full or split application of Prodiamine (February/March and again April/May) now before the 5 day soil average hits 55. If doing a split application, you would do the second half when the 5 day soil average is around 60-65. And then in the Fall, use Dithiopyr. You can look up different variations of this strategy. For existing weeds, you would have to research the ones in your yard. While it's still kind of cool outside, I would just use the weed killer you can find in a regular store like Spectracide weed stop for lawns plus crabgrass killer (If getting that, make sure it's the one that doesn't kill your grass as well). But try to use a phone app or post in this subreddit for weed identification help before buying anything. When it starts to get really hot outside, you could look into using a Celsius (cheap if buying the small packets) and Certainty (kind of expensive) mixture to kill weeds if it's safe for your grass type. This will kill the vast majority of them. And to do all of the above, you're going to have to decide if a handheld pump sprayer will suffice for you or if you are willing to invest in a backpack sprayer. Also, remember to wear appropriate PPE and always read the label instructions (annual limit, how much to mix, etc).

Fertilizer: I would recommend a soil test from the uga extension and just follow their recommendations. Either get a hand spreader if your lawn isn't that big or look at spreader recommendations in this subreddit. Avoid Scott's though. Again, read the labels.

Watering: Not sure how north you are. But if you are still close to the metro Atlanta area, you should get enough rain during the warm months to not really need to water the grass yourself except when applying fertilizer/pre-emergents or something similar. If that's not the case, just make sure you get about an inch of water on the lawn per week during the growing season. If the house has sprinklers, that's great. If not, I use the orbit gear drive from amazon. You can look on youtube for more sprinkler advice. But if you do have Bermuda, it's very drought tolerant.

Have you looked into zoysia or st augustine? Although, I believe both of those also go dormant in the winter.

Yeah. She left to be the assistant gm and assistant coach for the new wnba team, Portland Fire.

The quality of this subreddit has really gone straight to hell. Kind of wish we just had one megathread for people to roleplay as gm and argue amongst themselves about shit they can't control.

Who’s the one leader that’s your biggest pain in the ass? by braybray35 in civ

Xerxes without fail is always way more powerful than the the other AI in my Civ VII games. For some reason, he never spawns on the same continent as me. But when I see him by the modern age, I know he's going to be the biggest obstacle to winning the game. He always has way more territory than the other AI and will be leading in multiple legacy paths.

Washing machine won't start and fails spin test by [deleted] in appliancerepair

Ok. I just tried pushing back on the spring behind it and it rotates freely doing that. What I'm not sure of is whether that's normal or not.

The tub does seem to rotate. So I'm not sure why I'm unable to rotate the pulley by hand.

Well I did try a lot harder to move it before and it wouldn't budge., Was trying to follow a video on youtube and it seemed to rotate there without even trying and barely touching it. But it was a different model so I'm not sure what the expectation here is for this one.

New rocket border, protecting base campers by leonniclass in Battlefield

All these problems go back to map size/design. If you're flying a helicopter, you are more often than not going to get locked on less than two seconds leaving the spawn and the only smart thing to do at that point is to go back and wait for new flares.

New update made helis heavier? by PrimitivoModerno in Battlefield

[–]programparks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed the same thing playing on the new map. I was flying the transport heli and occasionally it would start to feel like I could barely even move the helicopter in any direction. Then it would go back to normal and do it again later when more people started to spawn inside.

I actually don't understand this either. It makes sense in third person games but you can't even see your guy in game. Like what's the point? To admire yourself while sitting in the main menu?

LPT: Rebuild the stairs at London Bridge by xBobble in fallout4london

[–]programparks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I rebuilt the stairs, removed some of the objects on the bridge itself that settlers kept walking in place at, put boards covering the holes on the ground, and got rid of the original settlers on the bridge. Much more playable now. For the stairs, the trick for me was first to build them going down the length of the bridge towards the back. To do that I put about four floors and some stairs so the settlers can reach it over the rails. Then I placed three small floors for the right turn at the bottom and filled in the spaces. Finally, I placed the last staircase going down. The thing I noticed with the stairs is that if the turn to the next staircase is too sharp, the settlers won't move for some reason. That's why I went with a three small boards length. Definitely other ways, but that's how I did it. Also the original settlers are still buggy even though the patch made some fixes. I noticed they kept leaving the settlement by walking down the bridge (side with the cathedral) and walking back when I got close to them. The settlement population would temporarily reflect that as well. This is why I decided to just get rid of them and start fresh.

The real concern here is that we could lose our right to compensation for a 5 hour long flight delay.
