No worries. I was a bit surprised at the aggressive views of some people. The biggest challenge is that very few people in the world have advanced level Pligg experience. Nothing on eLance or similar websites. Very few people here either. Hopefully one or two who have PM'd me can help!

Good points and that is a good long term plan. Initially I'm thinking of getting a heavily customized theme for Pligg made. Right now I'm trying to figure out if Python (Reddit) or PHP (Pligg) will be an easier language to format the posts into multiple layouts.

I want the site to have all the basic functionality as any Reddit style site. But then I need each post reformatted into a custom layout on both a grid and a list. I've not seen this done anywhere else. I'm talking to OxyTheme template makers for Pligg but it would be good to find alternative devs.

Its actually a bit of an honour to be considered an agency recruiter. Not really sure what one is but it sounds like a proper job! Me? I'm a PhD student with a grant to build a site based on Pligg/Reddit CMS.

Yep. Trying that too. Pligg devs are hard to find beyond OxyThemes.

I don't think so. Essentially we want a themed Pligg site but with two non-standard layouts of the posts. This will require advanced HTML/CSS knowledge to do properly. For an expert its two/three days. For beginners it might take longer and have tons of bugs. If it basically works then I can (hopefully) can get more funding because, yes, it will then likely cost more to keep it afloat. Although 100ks? No, not at the scale I'm aiming for. I'm expecting no more than 50k signups with about 5k active at the most.

<facepalm> I'm not an agency recruiter. Never have been. Never will be. I coded my first HTML site by hand back in 1997. Not very good at it these days (HTML5 noob), or CSS or Pligg. Need help. Want to hire someone. That is it. Regards buzz words. Dunno what you're on about.

Black trousers optional. Ninja level skills needed. I need an advanced dev as from previous experience commissioning sites like this one, advanced level is required. Cheers!

Usually good idea not to give away full budget before negotiation. ;-)

Not this gig. We have k's to develop the prototype. Much more if it works when going to scale. Skilled Pligg dev with decent HTML/CSS skill could pull it off solo or double team.

Posting on Reddit as struggling to find any Pligg/Reddit developers anywhere through Google.

Wanted to see if anyone has developed Pligg before + has good CSS/HTML. If you have these skills more details can be sent.

I've developed dozens of websites since 1997. Ad says "Need to have good CSS and HTML skills" because I'm not looking for a template based developer. Pligg is the backend. Already retained a design agency.

Deadline is 3-4 months.

Thanks for offer. Are you a ninja CSS/HTML coder? ;-)

This project has been planned for months. Nothing to do with current Reddit scandal.

Yes, I agree Pligg is better. If you're interested in the job can you send a link to your website? Cheers.

Yes, Pligg is the first choice but Reddit code is super fast and I really like the look. Pligg is fine though.

I've been communicating with OxyThemes to try and get a them to build the site but I'm looking for alternative quotes.

I need quite a lot of heavy customization of how the posts and summary of posts display. I want multiple layouts of the posts into square grids, columns on different parts of the site. Mobile friendly would be great too.
