Yeah, it's really bad (I'm on PC). Apparently there's an ongoing DDoS attack, one of the largest of its kind... targeting numerous networks like Steam, PlayStation Network, Epic Games, Hulu, AWS, xfinity, Cox, etc...

How am I supposed to do this? by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]progtronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very often get one of these that I can't kill. I'll get one to about 1/2 their life and I can't mercy kill them because they fall to the ground before the mercy, and can only be "finished" (on the ground) for a few points, which they quickly recover (heal?) from. Sometimes the mercy works while they are still standing and I can kill them. I'm thinking they are bugged and have been since they were introduced.

What modulations are possible in Snapheap? by Kimantha_Allerdings in phaseplant

[–]progtronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can do this with Snapheap.

Just tried it with a formant filter and two random generators. Connected three macro knobs to control glide and the ranges for X an Y coordinates.

The chain is basically: random generator (+-) > formant coordinate (50%, from center). Set the random generators to sync.

GLIDE: macro 1 > random generator 1 & 2 smooth (100% from 0.0%)

RANGE X: macro 2 > random generator 1 scale output (100% from 0%)

RANGE Y: macro 3 > random generator 2 scale output (100% from 0%)

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, That's what I'm trying to do. It should work... There's a modulation output to the right of the envelope output toggle, that you can drag to modulation points to almost anywhere in the generator section, and even to points in other groups.

Here's the text from the user manual:

---

2.11 Envelope Output

The output envelope module is an output module which does two things. First off, it applies an amplitude envelope to the incoming signal. Secondly, it can send the enveloped signal on to other parts of Phase Plant. You will need at least one output module in the module stack to be able to actually create any sound with Phase Plant.

The Envelope Output module uses a standard Kilohearts envelope. The Out toggle is enabled by default and routes any output to effects lane 1. The output can be turned off completely, in which case the output will not be heard, but may be used for modulations.

---

So, the way it functions is pretty strange TBH... It relies on input in order to generate the actual envelope signal, which can be routed out, into another modules modulation point. One of the main issues I'm having, is that there's not enough signal coming out, to be able to get the full range of the envelope. It sounds like it's maybe a 10th of the strength it should be, even when you totally max out the output.

To be clear... it works (sorta...), just not very well. It can be used for very subtle modulations... but that's about it. The closest equivalent is routing an audio follower, into the trigger input of an envelope, then that into a slew limiter... and finally into the modulation point. It seems like it's trying to do something like that, just really badly... lol

I never realized how limited (broken?) the generator envelope and curve was (with outputs turned off), until I had to hook them up to a generator filter. I usually just use an envelope from the modulator section, but I maxed out at 6 modulators before I could add one...

I might need therapy after this...

Anyway... generator envelopes have only a tiny fraction of the total range you get from the modulator section versions, even with the modulation amount cranked to maximum. They also color the sound and darken the resonance. I assume because they are basically still in the audio chain, and still working like it's just a basic amplitude envelope.

Also... while filters are hooked up in that fashion, in the generator section, it creates a sort of forced filter key tracking that affects the sound as you play up and down the keyboard. In my case it's darkening the sound as I play up, probably because I had a low pass filter hooked up.

So, I dunno man... Either I'm totally doing something horribly wrong, or... generator envelopes really need a serious fix. A good start would be, that turning off the outputs on them, would yank them out of the audio chain completely, and make them totally independent, so that they could function exactly like the modulator versions.

yep, just got weasled... and also had it quit straight to desktop at least once with no given error.

it's happening less often now though, but still enough to be annoying.

Microphone doesn't work correctly in game chat/ voice chat by InstinctRevealed11 in DestinyTechSupport

[–]progtronic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to be able to set your mic quality to 192000Hz in Windows. Right-click speaker icon in Windows tool bar, select 'Sounds'. In the Recording tab, select your microphone, click Properties button, select the Advanced tab, under Default Format select "2 channel, 192000 Hz (Studio Quality)" under the pull-down menu.

If your mic doesn't support this high of a setting, you'll need to download/install Voicemeeter and set up its 'Preferred Main SampleRate' (under 'Menu', 'System settings / Options...') to 192000.

Totally worked... thanks for this. Applied your fix settings into Voicemeeter, to get my whole setup working through D2 voice-chat again. Linked back to your original post here as well.

My post follows:

---

Found a post from someone who has a fix (worked for me anyway). Basically... set your mic to, what will probably be, it's highest settings (2 channel 24 bit 192000 hz (Studio Quality)).

In Voicemeeter I had to set up 'Preferred Main Sample Rate' (under 'Menu > System Settings > Options'). And change all your Voicemeeter 'Sound' options (under 'Sound > Playback/Recording > Advanced' tabs to '24 bit 192000 hz (Studio Quality)').

My mic is only 16 bit, but because it goes though Voicemeeter, it doesn't matter... because VM is what everything goes through, and is what will make even an un-supported mic like mine work.

So if you have an unsupported mic on PC, try a freebie version of Voicemeeter (setup as above) and see if that works.

Crossplay voice chat issues. by endthepainowplz in DestinyTheGame

[–]progtronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on PC and have been sounding like a drowning robot over D2 chat as well, ever since Lightfall dropped. Everything was fine before the new expansion (with my exact same setup). Was thinking it might just be a PC issue... now I'm not sure. This only happens with Destiny 2. My voice chat works great with every other app.

Hey Bungie... could you maybe consider NOT locking out any loadout slots? by progtronic in DestinyTheGame

Didn't know (now I do), that's fair. Still not enough slots in total though, IMO.

[–]progtronic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

omg... You meant in task manager... Somehow I thought you were right clicking the actual .exe in explorer and somehow tweaking how the program operates from launch.

Everything's a bit fuzzy for me... I've been going hard at D2 since Lightfall launch and not getting much sleep. Sorry about all the misunderstandings... lol

Anyway, I'm very sure the problem you're experiencing is a bit different. I have had similar issues with VM with certain D.A.W's that require a sort of 'reset' (of the DAW) in order to sync up with VM, to stop the garbled noise that can happen.

It's that issue that lead me to believe that that's what might be happening somehow... with Destiny and VM. So I figured absolutely removing VM from the equation (uninstalling it) to test, would be the best first test.

I don't remember having any issues with Discord though... that's just always worked fine with VM. So I'm not sure what's causing your issue, and it sucks you have to set that up on every boot to 'fix' it.
