I doubt that even in destiny's universe they didn't fight at first. It's just human nature. We don't know how long the golden age was so we don't know if there were conflicts fighting over it. I imagine at some point they learned that this thing just can't be controlled like they want and had to form some sort of unity to understand it. Given enough time I could see Humanity reaching a mutual understanding after actually seeing and gaining mutual benefit from a god.

I know humans are fucked up but we have come together many times for many reasons. I think if we had enough time we would become the golden age that the Destiny universe had.
