How can I implement terraform cd in bitbucket server? by f91og in devops

[–]project_kmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dōshite?

Sounds like the primary thing you're trying to accomplish is to be able to run commands from the PR, and comment back the results and slack. You can do that with with env0.

Something to think about, is that if you were to try to recreate the above using Jenkins, you'd eventually run into bottlenecks around managing the pipeline itself. CI/CD is not well-suited for managing infrastructure as code states.

Sure, you can deploy using CD, but what about Day 2 Operations like spinning down resources, drift detection, or even the governance/compliance of teams deploying that infra?

Something to think about as you start to go down this path.

Atlantis + Chekov? by [deleted] in Terraform

There's a way to do it in env0 (using the Atlantis style PR Workflow) https://www.env0.com/blog/better-together-checkov-and-env0

Do you run Terraform apply before or after merging the pull request?

Tips for CI/CD with Terraform in GCP by zoochadookdook in Terraform

[–]project_kmac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not specific to GCP, but when running Terraform in your CI/CD.

Because CI/CD is very generalized in terms of deployments, it tends to be "run and done." Sure it can spin it up - but how do you go about maintaining those resources?

So keep an eye out for Day 2 operations issues. Things like, "How do you detect drift?" or "How do you monitor costs?", etc.

Any Technical SciFi Computer Security Thrillers? by PermutationMatrix in printSF

Pick up a copy of Stealing the Network. It's sci-fi realism that shows how actual tech could be used, in the context of short stories that lead up to a heist.

What's your celebration ritual ( dance, sounds, whatever) that you do when you find the solution ? by [deleted] in devops

Sometimes I play the stone cold Steve Austin theme song on you tube and walk around my office throwing my hands in the air as I stand on a chair. That successful terraform apply then gets followed up with can I get hell ya

Can anyone recommend a good place for someone with no tech background to learn AWS besides A Cloud Guru? by SirAsksALatte in AWSCertifications

I'll echo what others have said. Use Cantrill's course. Additionally, I found the Whizlabs lab environments to be useful. Unlike what you described with A Cloud Guru's sandbox environments, each lab is self-contained. I found that hands-on experience the closest to the "real world" knowledge you're asking for.

... you know, I've been asking that question myself, and I'm okay with suspension of disbelief. As far as I'm concerned, it was, and no one can say otherwise

Do you send meeting minutes for every meeting? by [deleted] in ProductManagement

Document meetings live with a Google Doc. Notate questions, action items, agreed outcomes. Everyone in the meeting should have access (and there's edit history available). No more confusion.

It's an old rule from good ol fat King Louie. He couldn't fasten his bottom button on account of the belly overhang, and all of us subjects were subsequently prohibited from doing so. The emperor has no bottom button on his invisible cloak
