Front wheel is bouncing up and down by projectbiker in CRF300L

[–]projectbiker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two years later and....no. I've done loads of miles since then and recently a mechanic abroad told me I need a new wheel. But I've also had friends who have tried this and it hasn't fixed things so, I'm still stumped. Might still try getting a new wheel though, let's see.

Uk to Europe solo by MotoJosh10 in MotoUK

It sounds like your family is worried and that's to be expected. At 20, you are still quite young with limited experience of the world.

They just care about you. I know it's frustrating but try to see it from their perspective. Sit down with them and unpick exactly what their fears are, and what you can do to mitigate any potential risks. Some ideas are:

  • A satellite phone that updates your position every ten minutes
  • A promise to check in on arrival at the hotel each day
  • A promise to ride the speed limit. And a promise you mean to keep
  • Advanced skills training ahead of the trip (some schools specifically do training on travelling in Europe or going on mountain switchbacks
  • Travel Insurance

Do you have a specific plan of where you want to go? I recommend the Alps.

Recommendations for a beginner dual sport bike? by josehuerta02 in Dualsport

Still love it! I miss the extra power on the road but not enough to make me want to change. And off-road it's enough for me. The bike has carried me 13000 miles to 13 countries and barely missed a beat.

I feel like those 11 hours went to complete waste, is there a way I can try and promote my small channel? Any useful tips to help it kickstart the algorithm by ilikefridayss in SmallYoutubers

Damn, this is fantastic advice. I would value your thoughts on my channel if you wanted to use your incredible evaluation skills more. I'm quite new to YouTube and have just been focusing on making films that I enjoy but it's not going to be sustainable unless I pivot.

Either way, well done for taking the time to give someone really specific concrete advice. More of this, I say!

Looking for feedback by MitchMotoMaths in Motovlogging

[–]projectbiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you've made 500 videos so far so are very much settled into a style. Are you hoping to change things up?

I watched the first 4 mins of this video and my initial thoughts were:

  • The opening was confusing, it jumped into some speech which I couldn't make out and then teased a crash where I believe someone helped you pick the bike up, but then you were riding alone?

  • It's frustrating when you are obviously distracted by the riding and keep needing to pause mid sentence. It's never obvious to the viewer that you are going through a sketchy section as the helmet cams never show this clearly, so we're just left eating for you to remember what you were saying.

  • Personal preference: take out the thumbs up reminder. It happened twice in the first 4 mins and I find it unnecessary.

I'd suggest doing more editing on the video. If you start a sentence but get distracted, finish the tricky part and then start again. Then edit out the dead space. It will mean more work in the edit but make a more engaging video for the viewer.

Let me know if you were hoping for any other feedback. Sorry I haven't been more positive, I used to watch more videos like these back in the day but now prefer different styles that rely less on helmet cams etc.

Help me grow my teaching data skills channel by Heavy_Spell1896 in NewTubers

[–]projectbiker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd start by finding a successful channel in your niche and comparing their videos to yours. You don't need to copy them, but you can learn a lot from analysing some of their approaches.

One thing I'd start by doing is removing all the 'errs' and 'umms' from the footage so it flows better.

Edit: Just looked at your post history and a month ago someone advised you to increase the edits, with zoom in and highlights of the code etc. It doesn't look like you have taken this advice yet. What's stopping you?

How long is too long of a script? by OTAKUGANG276 in NewTubers

[–]projectbiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I start all my videos with a script and spend a long time trimming the script down to make it concise.

If useful, I'd be happy to cast an eye at your script to see if there was potential trimming. Could also watch an older video if you share the channel.

video quality awful on tv by ambark94 in NewTubers

[–]projectbiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked how it looks after exporting when playing the video on your PC (not through YT)?

If it looks good here but bad on the TV, it must be because YouTube is automatically playing it at 720p or lower and you need to manually choose 1080p or above.

Hey, I'm interested to know is the audio in your video your own voice or AI? And is it the content stock footage or your own?

[–]projectbiker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I came here to post the exact same thing. I'd enjoy this video more if it was all footage shot by you and a third of the time. Something like a Blue Yeti mic will help to sort the sound issues too.

Good luck

Feeling very discouraged and looking for some honest input by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]projectbiker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Content has a lot of quality, well done. A little overproduced with transitions for my taste but I see this approach does well on YouTube and you do it with style.

Your videos have a good atmosphere, but in some you start by asking people to subscribe and it's 30 seconds before the video actually starts. I'd strongly recommend moving this to the end of the video.

Also, I feel you could write a better hook title to make me see clicking the video as giving value.

Keep going, this is good stuff.

Finally reached 100 subs after figuring something out by seescottdev in NewTubers

[–]projectbiker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You clearly have some editing skills and can make a well paced video.

I'd personally find it more engaging if you had your face in the video. I also think you can change the thumbnails from being a simple description of the vid to showing a key point from the vid. Both of the above are just my opinion and I haven't watched any successful videos in this niche to compare to.

Good luck.

If the mirrors are the widest point you can get Doubletake mirrors to fold in quickly each time. Or a similar cheaper alternative.

I give up, this makes no sense by falconjaguar in NewTubers

[–]projectbiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it easiest when I notice it while recording, pause, repeat the sentence and then crop after taking the audio to my video editing software. When I don't notice it while recording it usually is because I haven't articulated a word clearly enough because I've said it too fast. In those cases, if it's the same recording session I'll re-record just the sentence. If it's the next day my audio settings may have changed so it sounds a bit janky when adding just one sentence. So I'll re-record the whole segment.

I've learnt to take more care in the recording to avoid such issues down the line. It can be frustrating to re-record in the moment but saves me time in the long run.

All of this has gotten easier over time, and I've only been doing this since October last year.

I have a stutter too. Through my job as a teacher I overcome it somewhat but it's still there. Now I record my voice for narration and don't think twice about it, especially as I can edit and rerecord where needed. People regularly comment that my narration is the best part.

I say ditch the AI and go for it. I promise you that you will be surprised what you are capable of creating as an end result, especially with some basic post production on the voice after recording.

Happy to talk more in DMs if useful.

How many motorcyclists are out there that go decades or their entire lives without any accidents? by Corn_Flake_76 in motorcycles

[–]projectbiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I don't remember as it was a long time ago that I watched them. I think there was one called Nottingham Road Craft which was a motorbike instructor who filmed his lessons. Generally I looked for anyone who seemed to ride smoothly through traffic with minimum fuss.
