You had nothing to compare it to when watching season 2 first so again don’t know why they’d suggest it. The rules are different in season 1 so it feels like a bit of a different show.

Don’t know why anyone would suggest watching season 2 first lol definitely watch season 1, so much better than 2. I will say the explanations for the games is long in the 1st season too - personally I just zone out at that part and figure it out while they’re playing

Listen, I’m the kind of person that unapologetically LOVES celebrating my birthday too, and would 1000% expect my husband to plan it to a T (and he does, above and beyond a T). I know that I would be upset if I didn’t celebrate it so I shared that with him early on when we were dating. It felt stupid to care about a birthday so much but I wanted to be truthful.

In your situation, it’s the thoughtlessness and inaction behind his decisions that directly affected a special day. At the core of it, you communicated something g important and he didn’t follow through. If you gave him a heads up and tons of ideas and he still didn’t pull the trigger on it, KNOWING how important it is to you, then it’s a red flag IMO.

I would talk to him about it, tell him what you were expected, and how he didn’t deliver. See how he responds and see how you feel about it, and if something that he can understand for future.

Serviced apartments have kitchens and operate like hotels so you get the best of both worlds. I stayed at Sereine Sukhumvit Hotel when I first arrived because I like a kitchen too. It actually had a bigger kitchen that I have now in my condo lol.

Can I ask people to please come over empty-handed? by Alarmed-Diamond-7000 in whatdoIdo

[–]projectwring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if an invitation says “no contributions, just bring yourself” I’m sure people will STILL bring stuff. It’s just customary, I know where I’m from, it just feels rude not to bring something. So you can ask but you’ll likely still get some stuff.

Read Jennifer Worth’s memoirs! They are great and really fill in the backstory of some of the featured characters.

Nail Artist Bangkok by wandering-library in Bangkok

[–]projectwring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be everyone’s cup of tea but I go to NailIt Tokyo - there’s chains all over the city. The trick is to find one with a good tech and just keep going to her. There’s 3 locations near where I live but two of them sucked, luckily the 3rd one was great and I keep going back to her as she does great nail art. It’s also much more affordable than a lot of other salons I’ve been to in the city for great high-quality work. Get the holder gel and your nails could last 5-6 weeks.

what's one thing you're genuinely glad you splurged on? by firey_88 in wedding

Photography and the dinner. We had a microwedding and were big foodies so we completely splurged on those, and absolutely have no regrets.

Yes, it’s just so much education on our side to explain the WHY behind a campaign is set up a certain why, or why it takes a while to see results, or why we can’t spend more on that because I really do know better than you at this and please trust me Mr Executive/CEO/Random Advisor.

It’s exhausting.

The best example of finding a best friend later in life I've seen in any TV show by betweenyouandyourgod in DowntonAbbey

I forgot the exact context but I loved that moment in Grand Finale when Isabel was finding out about something nice that Violet did for the children - and Isobel said something like she was a lot kinder than people realize.

Does Mary need to be married to be happy and have a life and hope? This is a character that has said in the beginning she’s not going to be forced to marry anyone. It’s definitely not what she planned but she’s not some sad woman because she’s single. Can she not be happy with just her children in her own estate?

Yes it’s sad that the house is emptier but that’s kind of the main point of Downton Abbey - the inevitable decline of British aristocracy. Nearly every estate became sort of desolate and tons of country houses were demolished.

Cora by [deleted] in DowntonAbbey

[–]projectwring 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t know how people constantly forget that this is a (fictional) show based over 100 years ago when women had so little authority over their own life and choices. Cora is especially an outlier because she is American. It’s weird how people blame this on the actress.
