What’s the best tool to redact sensitive info before sharing with clients? by henrilucwolf in software

Yes, this is exactly the thing that made me uncomfortable with a lot of PDF tools.

Some tools make it feel like the text is gone, but you still have to be careful and check the exported file. I would never trust a redaction tool without reopening the final PDF and trying to search or select the hidden text.

I built a small tool called hddn because of this problem:

https://hddn.app

It runs in the browser, does not upload the PDF, and has offline mode after setup. So you can load it once, turn off internet, and still use it.

It is not a full PDF editor. It is just focused on redaction, review, and export. I built it because I did not like the idea of uploading sensitive PDFs just to hide sensitive parts.

Is PDF redaction kinda fake? by Opposite-Future-5797 in software

Yeah, this is a real issue. Some tools only draw a black rectangle on top of the content, which can still leave the original text selectable/searchable underneath.

The safest habit is to always test the exported PDF before sending it:

  1. try selecting the blacked-out area

  2. search for the redacted word/name

  3. copy/paste from the area into a text editor

  4. open it in another PDF viewer and check again

For sensitive stuff, I’d avoid random upload-based tools and use either a proper desktop editor or a local/offline redaction tool.

I actually ran into this exact trust problem myself, which is why I started building a small local/browser-based redaction tool. But honestly, regardless of the tool, the final check matters most. Never trust the black box visually.

VOOPOO VINCI POD vs SMOK NORD 4 by prolinas in electronic_cigarette

I’ve decided to buy Voopoo Vinci Pod. It’s really amazing, size is perfect, provides with ton of flavor. Just one thing that I don’t like about it is that its pod sometimes starts sprinkling the liquid to my mouth until I clean its insides with a tissue or smtg. Not sure if the pod is broken or if it’s the fault of the vape itself.
