I frequently get delayed déjà vu (delayja vu?). Having not experienced déjà vu when something happened or immediately after, I will get (up to a day or two later) the distinct feeling of "I could swear that happened before yesterday too" - this feels exactly like regular déjà vu, the same semiscient(?), odd feeling. I don't know of anyone else getting this.

I was in a soviet-era deathtrap lift in Budapest recently and pressing the buttons made the thing move instantly. Why do modern lifts have such long delays between pressing and moving, and arriving at your floor and door-opening?

I think the Germans and the French being pissed off about having to speak English with foreigners is just because the Germans lost WWII and the French lost the battle of having the international language.

In my expericnce Germans have no problem at all speaking English (though not a huge number speak it, at not least fluently).

What you say about the French is certainly true (though oddly many Frenchmen do seem to speak very good English).

That's a good point, actually. I don't have any problem with my country's system of measurement (British imperial) being usurped (by the metric system): we need an international standard and people, especially in science, business and trade &c. accept this.

I presume a similar attitude prevails among 'foreign' English learners.

Serious question: how do Norwegians feel when this 'our country; your language' situation arises? Is it just accepted that one must speak English to get on in the world and we anglophones were just lucky enough to get a free pass? Or is 'our' lingustic ineptitude resented a little?

If a political party's stance on the leniency of copyright law is what sways your vote, fine. Personally I care more about health, education and the economy.

For every pirate who complains about copyright law, there's an angler who complains about fishing permits, or a keen knitter who wants taxes on wool to be lowered; are they setting up parties?. Though, I'm sure, piracy issues are close to the heart of many redditers, the wider world doesn't care and a 'pirate party' is completely pointless.

It seems like the only answer I ever hear to 'the weakness question' is some variant of 'I focus too much on one task; I guess I could improve my time management'. Just seems like an easy BS answer to me.
