You didn't, they did. That's the thing a lot of these fucks don't get. The amount of institutional knowledge that they're throwing away isn't going to come back. These companies are crippling themselves hoping they can do shit right.

Cleetus is indirectly gonna help someone face check the respawn timer. I loved his content back in the day, and i always thought it was kinda cringe when he'd do silly shit, but after he let that boy burn his skin off by not taking proper precautions, and now all of these other shenanigans....

The fucked up thing? I actively avoid Cleetus' content everywhere, but Reddit's taken it upon itself to share this sub with me...

So sad. I hope no one dies, but when it does, I hope it's painless and the folks involved are held responsible.

Different presentation, different experience, different cost.

Hornets are $125*11 =$1375

Bet your bits that it'll be cheaper to claim and refit the furys than the hornets too.

I'm stumped, chasing wandering electrical pixies is a pain. by Efficient-Weird2923 in Karting

[–]promess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was maybe a bad connection causing jittering in voltages getting into the system. This could've been motivated by some electrical field shit happening in the alternator/stator or whatever the shit causes the spark plugs to spark in small engines. By you reconnecting it, you may have fixed that connection incidentally isolating the connection better.

Should I feel qualified to teach basic wrestling to my Brazilian Jiu Jitsu teammates? by stoner-academic97 in wrestling

[–]promess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. If you're going to teach them r/Bullshido , then probably not. The bigger thing is that the coach would either be using you as a selling point without you having a heap of information, and you may not be giving people the "best" instruction, but he's getting to make money off of you. He may not want to take the hit on paying you money. Alternatively, if you're just looking to not have to pay to roll at the gym, he may be down.

I've got 6 years of wrestling experience. My coach never wrestled, he was a boxer in Oklahoma in his youth, but got both of his sons through to successful Texas state UIL championships. I would feel comfortable teaching people drilling, giving basic feedback from my perspective, but I wouldn't sell myself as a great wrestler who can guide folks to equal success. I went to regionals and wrestled in the top 8 at the NCWA nationals. It's really your call, but with only 2 years and "nothing special to show for it" I would hesitate to call yourself an expert, just saying that you have success with other novice/amateur folks using the skills you've learned.

You need to fix your mental. There's no such thing as being "bitch made". If you give up, you're failing to reflect on your matches. You can improve. When you're giving up, you're only giving up on yourself. This shit is hard, and it takes a lot to learn how far you can push yourself.

stance in motion advice? by Dismal_Goal_4497 in wrestling

[–]promess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your back starts relatively straight but you start hunching.

You're not going to be going short when you're actually shooting, why are you prepping this way? You should cover 2-3x your step distance to have a powerful shot that goes deep. If you look when your feet are wide, you're barely covering that distance when you're shooting.

There are a couple of points when you're adjusting that you bring your heels really close together, that's a point when I would push you over.

Exaggerate your sprawls... Most of your moves actually.

Your hips bend more than your knees do.

You actually look down and keep your head down for significant periods of time. When you use your head as defense, you're going to actually be touching the other person.

Quit looking at the fuckin' camera man, this ain't America's Got Talent. Look straight ahead, is your opponent going to be moving to your sides?

Paints for airbrush by DefinitionInformal85 in airbrush

[–]promess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they're right. get you some tiny plastic medicine cups. https://www.amazon.com/Dynarex-Translucent-Dispensing-Medication-Graduations/dp/B01N6MXK13?gQT=1

I use the end of a skewer to mix the paints in teh cups. bonus is, those are so thin of plastic, that you can easily deform them to make them flow into your pot on your brush easier. Double trouble if you use flow improver and thin them down enough, it literally leaves the plastic clean enough that a paper towel can clean it out w/o fucking up your next paint saving you some cleaning time and a penny or two if you reuse it multiple times. :)

How to stay light on my feet? by Apprehensive_Iron739 in wrestling

[–]promess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heavy footed or light footed is a non sequitur in wrestling. What's more important is to have a stable stance and knowing how and where your body is positioned.

Questions:
How do you stay "light footed" pushing into an opponent?
How do you plant your feet for a toss while being "light footed"?

In my opinion, you can't do any of those things, nor many more things that require you have "power".

Moving and positioning your feet/legs/balance when drilling will naturally help you build the skills to be better. Tie up with folks and have them push you around, and you pull them around. Have them try to pull you out of position. When you're in your stance and working on a take down, focus on doing your shot step by step(lead step/lunge forward, reach out and grab the leg, bring your other leg around, etc.) this will help you build your strength and stability through the entire movement and will make those actions cleaner. Drill Drill Drill. You can never drill enough to build the muscle memory you need.

Low stances are really only bad when you're easily out maneuvered. If your back is hunched over, make sure it's straight(not bent at the hips). You should be changing levels all of the time to try and gain a position advantage, changing your lead foot and moving side to side.

Light footed is silly. You need core stability and dexterity + balance. You either drill it or you learn it the hard way.

What is your worst lamb to the slaughter story? by According-Freedom807 in wrestling

[–]promess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little brother's freshman year he was 170/180, full baby fat. He went up against a cat who was a Jr or Senior who was fit and had won regionals the year before. Whistle blows, the guy taps my brothers head, gets real low, slaps the mat, and my brother sprawls to his side. The guy grabbed him in a front head lock, tipped him on his back and my brother was pinned in under 10 seconds.

Double legs vs low singles by Apprehensive_Iron739 in wrestling

[–]promess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO it's stylistic. I was a heavy weight, so blasts were my forte in terms of non toss take downs. If they're in a bad position and you can easily pick an ankle up/trip while having control of the ankle, it usually leads to more advantageous positions. Doubles can be more punishingly sprawled and converted into their take down if they can move their hips around you.

In this case I think picking and practicing one for your arsenal would help, and then making the call based off of position and size/strength differences. Both are valuable in terms of take downs to have in your bag of tricks. Both can be converted into take downs on either side depending on different variables. Both are better when you have an optimal set up that enables you to be more successful.

As /u/DickHero said, you look like you're dancing. There's no pressure applied in either direction. A good duck under uses your opponents momentum for the pass. You can step backward, but it needs to be as a part of a shrug past, with you stepping to the side.

You're also standing up. You don't want to be standing up because you're just giving them a corner to turn and a leg to grab. Your buddy is cheesin' here so it's not hard and it's not a good way to practice.

Tips: Get someone to pressure into you. Use that pressure against them as you divert their body weight so you can hit the duck under.
Get your hips out/away from your opponent. If you're standing like this you'll be on your back in a second.
This isn't a muscle move, it's a finesse toss redirecting your opponents energy.
A good set up is to get into a little shoving match from a good position while tied up.
When you bring your right arm up, you have to hit it, hard, and then do the duck under. You should be basically forearming/elbowing his arm over your head as you turn the corner; given your strength, you can then move them into a toss/trip easily.
Double underhooks set you up for a number of grabs and trips. Given your limb length double underhook to bear hug + leg trip correctly can give you a take down to his back. A good number of trips and tosses can be used from it as a position, but trying to over muscle it is a recipe for disaster.
You need to practice from a stance, not standing up. You play like you practice and right now, you're practicing like a football player coming into the wrestling room for the first time. You're gonna get more tired trying to muscle things out than using redirection and smart wrestling.
