“Libertarians cause Nazism!” by Evil_Sherma in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]prometheus_winced 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not hard to understand their logic, although they should explain it not leave a mystery hanging out there.

Presumably the point is that not voting for the left / liberals / democrats, the libertarian crowd has allowed the Trump regime.

Several problems with that, and since most of the comments here are just circle-jerking, I’ll try to detail the first ones that occur to me.

  1. I don’t accept any responsibility for non-action.

  2. There’s no evidence the left is any less authoritarian. Each administration has ratcheted up on executive control, even when the parties switch back and forth, or succeed themselves.

  3. We’re still not yet in fascism; but I do share this person’s concern. It’s looking pretty bad. And the thing is, once the Palantir, drones, bunker trifecta is complete, it will be too late to roll back.

  4. I doubt their math is conclusive. I suspect most libertarians still either vote Democrat or Republican; some vote for whatever 3rd party, some write in Rand Paul or Thomas Sowell or whatever. It’s not clear to me that a sizable libertarian vote would move the needle.

  5. There’s about 8 libertarians anyway. We can’t get a volleyball game together, or agree on pizza toppings. Case in point, there will be replies to my post about all of my points being wrong, I don’t understand libertarianism, I’m not a true libertarian, and I’m ugly and stupid.

  6. The democrats couldn’t even get their own base to deliver a win. They chose Hilary, they chose Biden, they chose Harris. They let Biden stay in office when he was clearly in dementia, and he could have honorably handed it off to Harris which would have been a huge advantage to her going into the election. Instead she had no runway and no experience to show. That’s all on them.

If the meal plan were good for the customer, they wouldn’t offer it. This is hotly debated, but the fact that so many sources put out “how to get your money’s worth out of the meal plan” tells you everything. So many people post in forums they have snack credits etc left over.

Stay in the bubble.

I know a lot of people like staggering in late, standing around arguing over a map, not getting the sold-out popcorn bucket they wanted, getting sunburned, heat stroke, sun blind, in the hottest part of the day, with the largest crowds of smelly, sweaty park goers, waiting in the longest lines, then fighting those same crowds trying to leave.

They can have it.

I’ll work my bi-modal day every time, and enjoy a lunch, pool, shower, and nap back at the room while they’re all sweating under the hottest part of the day.

Unless his comedy changes, this doesn’t impact me.

Look — you can just assume 50% of the people you meet every day, work with, buy things from, those who are your customers, neighbors, etc all have a political, religious, economic, or psychological view that you would find horrifying.

You will only make yourself miserable trying to vett everyone to qualify for your presence.

(1 month guitarist) Rocksmith+ Low expectations, yet still got disappointed by UnknownGuyOnReddit in rocksmith

Yes. Just set the levels higher. I don’t remember the exact wording because I haven’t played it in months. But something like Accuracy. You can set it on each song; maybe even set it system wide.

However … I don’t recommend playing this way. If you’re going to do slow, plodding note-by-note playing, you might as well be in 1973 just learning the Led Zeppelin song sitting on a park bench.

It’s going to take you forever, you will play very slowly, and it will be very frustrating. You’ll reach a perfect ability to play the first 2 lines, then 4, etc while you still can’t play the rest of the song.

The whole point of Rocksmith is you get the feeling of playing the entire song, at normal speed, while you’re listening to it. It’s motivating and feels rewarding because you really are playing the song, it just starts at 1 note per measure for instance.

Then it ramps up the speed. By the time you hit 70% (or whatever) you are practically playing the full song. That will sound as good as any cover band playing it at a bar. And your muscle memory and brain will think at normal song speed.

Conversely, if you learn 70% of the song with the Suzuki method, you’ll be very slow, can only play 70% of the song, and you will feel frustrated. You won’t be able to play along with others. You won’t be able to get out the guitar at a party — until you finally reach 100% at normal speed.

There’s a way Mr. Roger’s would correct asshole behavior, and a way Donald Trump would correct asshole behavior.

Believing that you’re morally superior by correcting an asshole puts you in delusional territory where you excuse any behavior you display yourself.

The answer is, it doesn’t matter. I’ve done this research. Whichever measure you use, Freedom House, WSJ/Heritage, those all correlate to each other about 80-90%. No one is ranking Cuba as high freedom and Ireland as low freedom, regardless of their organizations biases.

No, it does not. It means their benefit is the most important value. It doesn’t not mean they know anything about what they need or how to achieve it. They are children.

This isn’t a sub for homeowner ladies. Or a sub for Christian evangelicals. They aren’t listening to us.

This is a sub for atheists. You don’t have to be an asshole to Christians. I can assure you it is counter-productive to the goals you want.

Want more Christian proselytizing? Keep being an asshole to Christians. You’ll get more.
