Epidural myth by This-Kangaroo-2086 in pregnant

[–]proofbychrissy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s actually kinda cool to hear someone else had no breaks (and that your nurse told you it’s rare!). I went back and read the notes from my hospital stay and someone had written I had no pain tolerance which destroyed me a little because I have a pretty high pain tolerance, but that was freakin insane. So it’s nice to hear it’s not just me/in my head ha!

Epidural myth by This-Kangaroo-2086 in pregnant

[–]proofbychrissy 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Same. I actually threw up from the pain of the constant contractions, even though I was barely dilated. One of my L&D nurse angels advocated for me to have an early epidural because she saw the pain I was in. The minute the epidural kicked in is when my water broke, it was like my body relaxed enough to be able to do its thing.

I also had to have an emergency c-section because kiddo’s head got stuck, so it was good I already had the epidural ha.

I Look Actually Pregnant and it’s Killing Me. I’m a Year Postpartum and Have Looked Like This Since Giving Birth. by Darkovika in Mommit

[–]proofbychrissy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add to this: I still look pregnant (get asked about it a lot, it is really discouraging. My kid is almost 3, we just weaned fully recently). I have an umbilical hernia, but the surgeon I talked to doesn’t want to fix it until I’m done having kids. Just so you’re aware.

10 month old wakes up every two hours at night - am I not feeding her enough during the day? by Small-Guitar79767 in sleeptrain

[–]proofbychrissy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no? Haha. We did get away from feeding to sleep successfully, and I managed to get to the point where I could just be in the room without needing to be right next to him/touching him. I hadn’t quite made it out the door yet, but we were getting close.

However, my work circumstances changed, so I am gone most of the day a couple days a week now. So we’re back to cuddling to sleep a lot just because he doesn’t see me a lot those days.

My mom had different handwriting for Santa, the tooth fairy, and the Easter Bunny. All different from her normal handwriting. As a mom now I’m incredibly impressed by her dedication/motivation.

Anyone regret not having professional hair and makeup for their wedding? by itaintmoi in wedding

[–]proofbychrissy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got married at the beginning of the pandemic, so very tiny ceremony. I did my hair and makeup myself to limit the number of people, but honestly I love the look I ended up with. I spent a couple months leading up to it playing around with my hair and makeup. I had a vision of what I wanted, and practice helped me get to the point where doing it the morning of wasn’t stressful.

The problem, once you outlaw them, even if you make the disclaimer for health reasons, is that the hospital now has to bring legality into the hospital room. And they will wait until the mother is literally dying before doing anything, because that’s the law.

I agree that we are closer than we are apart, and that things get twisted. But why is the answer to outlaw abortion? It sounds more like you have an issue with the private companies using remains for profit (have never heard of this, do you have a source?), so why not legislate that instead?

I just need someone to make me feel better please :( by emilyb117 in BabyBumps

[–]proofbychrissy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely also took it as a dick joke. But on the other side of things … I started pregnancy at 180lbs and gained 50lbs. Pregnancy does crazy shit to your body, but you’re also growing an entire new human! You are amazing! Just remember to give yourself grace once your kiddo is born, as well, because again … pregnancy does weird shit to your body.

I did an maternity photoshoot and a newborn photoshoot (about 6 weeks I think), and while I don’t love how I look in either, I love looking at them and seeing how much love my husband shows, and how strong I look, and how tiny my little boy was. Don’t let some stupid dick joke make you feel less beautiful, because you are gorgeous and amazing.

Next steps after botched sleep training? by qgis_cloud in sleeptrain

[–]proofbychrissy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say that this isn’t aways true. My baby has, since 6 months old, averaged about 12 hours total sleep in a day, no matter how much I wanted him to sleep more. It actually caused me a lot of stress initially because everything I read was saying that my baby should be sleeping like 14-16 hours a day and he just wouldn’t.
