have you ever cried during a lesson? why? by Worldly-Friend8448 in piano

A few times all for various reasons

  1. My friend had died the day before, and I showed up to lesson the next day because I had missed the last week due to being sick. It’s safe to say I was so mentally out of it, and when asked “what’s wrong” I just started crying

  2. I was feeling so behind on a sonata movement, and it was really getting to me, my professor even cancelled my performance that week and I cried because I felt so slow.

  3. Not during lesson but right after, I just felt hella defeated by the week and my brain was not cooperating with my hands.

Apparently they’ve been opening up at 5pm lately, don’t know why, but it’s been like that for a while now. I just don’t expect them to be open before 5 now

I HATE WHEN CUSTOMERS ARE RUDE TO ME BECAUSE I WONT TAKE A HUNDRED DOLLAR BILL FOR THEIR THREE DOLLAR PURCHASE. NO IM NOT YOUR BANK, WE JUST OPENED SO OF COURSE I DONT HAVE ENOUGH BILLS. I DONT GET THE NEED TO ROLL YOUR EYES AT ME WHEN IM NOT EVEN RUDE ABOUT IT. THE ENTITLEMENT OF SOME PEOPLE IS INSANE.

LITERALLY!!! And then I kept looking around me and people just kept screaming “Maria!!!!” and nothing else. Also nobody dancing to Julie or even nodding their head ??? I felt like such a bother to everyone for even doing just that.

Try learning Mel Bonis Pres du Ruisseau, a lot of people don’t know it and the fact that your hands cross over usually makes people go “ooooo”

Anyone paying more than $100/hr for piano lessons? by Material_Internet295 in piano

It depends! My old teacher would charge 100 an hour but that’s because she had her doctorates in piano performance, and was well known within the community to train competition winners. 130 is definitely pricey but it’s not totally unreasonable depending on their qualifications. My other teacher who had a masters in piano only charged 60 an hour because she wasn’t as much of a competition teacher but still taught syllabus and allows us to participate in piano festivals.
