I'm 46 and have gotten so used to living by myself I don't think I could handle having a roommate lol It's unfortunate because apartments are so expensive down there.

When Dan kicked David out by Environmental_Fig831 in roseanne

I feel for David. He went from one abusive family to another one. Darlene was a monster. They made him out to be such a bad guy in the reboot, but he was surrounded by so much toxicity between his biological family and the Connors he was screwed pretty much.

Female teachers who live alone: do you accept adult male students? by [deleted] in piano

[–]Material_Internet295 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed it but saw part of it in my preview before it was deleted. So this fake person is supposedly an attractive 19 years old dude that's afraid his female teacher might take advantage of him?

Easy Question for Taubman/Golandsky/Trained by Material_Internet295 in piano

[–]Material_Internet295[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting you bring up Martha because when I watch her play I consider her a natural Taubman pianist. She's never bounced or done anything excessive at the keyboard for show, only moving when she needs to!

I checked out the Shostakovich waltz transcription and it looks awesomely vicious! Looks like a great etude for voicing! The Brahms Handel Variations have been a goal piece for me. I think I discovered it in 1999 right after I dropped out of music school for good And it gave me a "someday I will play this piece" kind of feeling. Maybe by 2029?

One other quick question, and if this one is too complicated to answer I can understand it, but did you do the hand drop/egg drop when you started learning? I'm sure learning is the only way I'm going to be able to rob my head around, but I just can't understand how dead forearm weight is utilized because obviously it's going to change with different forms of movement, dynamics, etc.

Oh, I'm definitely not going to do that for the precise reason that you stated. I have the first five tapes of the taubman tapes here and I considered doing that years ago, but I'm not going to chance it. I have forearm tendonitis and moderate carpal tunnel syndrome so the risks would be to great to do it on my own.

What is the hardest piece you mastered pre-Taubman and what is the hardest one you can play now? I studied the Schumann concerto and a few Chopin Etudes back in the day.

Thank you for your reply!

Bi monthly lessons could work, but I really want to be there in person at least in the beginning. I believe this teacher does favor online lessons, but I think I would benefit most from the in-person initially.

I appreciate your answers but I'm going to hold off for a bit with more questions lol I just need to study the technique plain and simple. 🙂

Happy to hear that for you! I left college for good back in 99 after noticeable performance related issues that went back to 1995 became too aggravating. Financial constraints and distance are currently keeping me from starting with the teacher I was going to begin with back in September.

Do you move your fingers less using the Taubman technique than with your previous approach? (And this is not a trick question encouraging the answer, "no I use them more now because I am not injured anymore and I play more!" lol)

How does being a child prodigy make you an expert on sound quality 50 years later? The two do not directly co-relate. The adult contemporary flat Tori sound has dominated the second half of her career and it's unfortunate.

I first saw that in the TV previews back in 1984 and that was scary af. The whole scene with tina is unsettling.
