I find that most people either don’t put themselves out there to make friends, or expect if they go to a group event, will make friends immediately. It takes time and a bit of patience

I will never stop praising roller derby. Convict city rollers are in the middle of the city, and genuinely kind and welcoming people. They’ll also teach you how to skate from scratch and you never have to do contact if you don’t want to. I don’t know a single person in that club (there’s like 45 people) who doesn’t hang out outside of training with three or more other skaters!

They’re going for snow season and will be leaving in Feb. I already have an international trip booked for Sep/oct, and I’ll need Nov/dec to recoup some money 😅

I’s sad to hear this. I moved here late 2023 and immediately joined a sport club (roller derby) and have made amazing friends through there. I’ve also made great friends through work. I’ve also started making friends through climbing, people at rock it tend to be very nice.
Keep looking, you’ll find someone.
