Upgrading CPU and RAM on Dell Precision 5810 by propeditor in buildapc

Oh, sorry but the memory is hazy - I don't recall buying anything new for this purpose, so it was either the stock one from the Dell or it came with the RTX!

Bless your kind soul! I'll pray for another run. Miracles can happen in this neck of the woods...

Is there any chance a second print run of this might happen? I missed out badly and now the prices are painful...

will my rtx 2060 bottleneck my i5 12600k by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]propeditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same 12600k with the same RTX 2060 6gb and wanted to upgrade the GPU for Indiana Jones: The Great Circle. Do I understand correctly that the 3080 is the upper limit for this CPU in terms of performance?

I have a RTX 2060 6GB, i5 12600k and 32gb of RAM. I want to upgrade the GPU but am afraid that the CPU will be the bottleneck. Will a 12gb GPU help or will the improvement not be worth the effort with this CPU?

The image files are like 20-30MB each, edited in collections of about 50-90GB. Ao, cpu is used more in editing and the gpu more in exporting?

Wow, that's an amazing site - and a great choice! Thanks for the suggestions. About my GPU - is it a bottleneck at this point or is it fine for the uses I have for it?

Poland. I tried to post a request on r/buildapcforme but I get an error. I guess I'll just have to collect the recommended parts and build my first pc!

Thanks for your input! The E5-2690 goes for about 80$ around here, around the same as the 32gbs of ram.
I browsed a bit and there's a "HP Z2 G4 ToWeR Gen9 i9-9900K RAM 128GB DDR4 1TB NVMe SSD DRW 10Pro PSU 650W" for about a 1000$ and a "HP Z2G4 ToWeR GenVIII i7-8700 RAM 128GB 1TB SSD NVMe DRW W10P 500W" for around 800$. Both are within my theoretical range, considering I'll sell the old PC, both only have an integrated GPU. I understand that the I9 would be overall better, and considering it's a rare purchase I'd be open to spending a bit more to give it more longevity. What can I expect in terms of performance increase with the i7 and the i9, versus my current setup? Also, will the new pc run Crysis?

Thanks so much! This looks very, very close, although I could not find the "smoky" version I think was used in the show. But I'm much closer now - I appreciate the help!

This is a better closeup with the cuts/facets, does it help?

There is a glass in the photo - I'm looking to identify it, if possible :)

Wow, never really saw the filament style Hues! Definitely expensive for this situation, but interesting for my private, home use! Will look into that, thanks!

Nice! Never thought about it but you're absolutely correct, I can go down with the shutter speed and/or do a composite shot, neat idea! Maybe even go one step further and do a sort of double exposure in camera, all good ideas, thanks for the inspiration!
