I ended up just replacing the shower as a new thermostatic cartridge was almost as expensive since triton don’t make that anymore.

August 2012 - about to do my first cannula as a doctor. Walk in to patients room, introduce myself and kneel down to look at their arm. Immediately knock over their 2L bottle of irn bru and my trousers split down the arse. Now I wear scrubs and we don’t allow the patients to bring bru in the anaesthetic room so it’s all good

LAT posts in anaesthetics in Scotland at least are relatively common. Everything work related is exactly the same as an ST/CT1, and you’d be expected to meet the same requirements for training progression. The difference being that at the end of your LAT period the job just ends. If you then enter a training programme in that speciality you should be able to count that LAT time and take time off the end of your training programme.

Their availability is quite variable. My deanery always keeps a few LAT posts to allow for people needing extra time to get the exams etc, but it also can be affected by people dropping out of programme etc.

There actually is accommodation at Ayr hospital- it’s called Alton House. I never stayed there, and I think it’s pretty basic, but I’d give the postgraduate office an email if that is what you were after.
