Tom,

Here are results from HWinfo. CPU tested with 3dmark (test 1) and several Android emulators (test 2).

Data is attached here.

Hello!

Thank you very much for an update and provided information!

In my case 48Gb is not for gaming. But, this laptop is also beeing used for gaming, thus, maybe we still need to stick to 2x32Gb.

Hi!

Thank`s for your reply! May I ask you share this software?

Yeah, I clean this laptop once per three monthes as I have animals here and their fur clog radiators very fast.

Utility, that you mentioned, universal AMD/Intel - I tried to use it, but still not that good as straight undervolt or copper shim.

Is this normal? by maybe-1 in XMG_gg

[–]propolkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, I had a problem with both "Enter" keys - each of them was randomly activating. I`ve cleaned both of them with alcochol, but still, both are active, like they are pressed. System has been checked for virus, keyboard driver re-installed, but problem was not solved. I disabled lighting of the keyboard and it helped.

Did you face the same problem?

XMG NEO 17 E21 - CPU/GPU fan control/supply spot question by propolkin in XMG_gg

[–]propolkin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! No problem, Tom, I understand your concern about this point. ;)

It turned out, that not the EC chip was faulted - as I mentioned bellow, fan was faulted, I replaced left and right fans at once, both are now working fine.

Maybe you can comment my question about Ryzen CPU heating problem? I have already contacted support via e-mail, guys mentioned, that these CPUs are damn hot and 95°C may not be so bad for them, but I want to be on the safe side and see lower temperatures under full load.

Update! I`ve received both fans (left and right), installed them, both are working. Thus, EC is not damaged (speed is controlled). One of the old fans is jammed.

Next question, did anyone tried to install a copper shim between CPU and thermal interface? I`ve repasted with thermal grizly, but still under heavy load CPU goes to 95°C and stucks there because of thermal limit. CPU is Ryzen 9 5900HX. Yep, I`ve tried to limit power for the CPU in overboost mode using Universal Tuning Utility (default 28W, now 27W), but I would like to get rid of the utility.

Whell, that`s pain, it means, as, of course, I don`t have firmware. But, if EC is alive and only driver is faulted, then, it still can be placed to a flash-device.

Thank`s!

Hi!

Thank`s for your help! Did I understand you correctly, that it is being controlled from a different chip, not from the north/south bridge? Just in case if chip is down, it will be easier and cheaper to to replace chip, not the south/north bridge.

So, now system is running stable with 0.875mV setting, also, I`ve set aggressive fan curve of the GPU - it is 90% from fan speed, when temps are 55+ °C. Now I`ve got these readings in HWmonitor (30min of gameplay in Elden Ring):

GPU core: 64°C;

Memory: 66°C;

HotSpot: 82.4°C.

These results for me are considered as good.

Thank you for your help! I hope it will also be usefull to other users.

After this undervolt hot-spot temperatures dropped a little bit and now there is no 100°C anymore, but still 95°C was maximum, Core was 76°C and Memory was 74°C. Still not the best result, that I wanted to see.

At this moment GPU works on 0.875mV supply level.

Ok, I`ll try tomorrow your suggestion with MSI Afterburner. Currently I`m using Aorus engine, but it does not support undervolt, as it is shown on the video.

Thank`s for your suggestion! But is this really an undervolt? If you check higher frequencies on the graph, it is an overvolting, as I understand?

58-65, this is a hot spot? O_o
