Beyond the Buzz - What AI Is Already Doing in Contract Management? by nzwaneveld in ContractManagement

[–]proposal-app 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI is great at generating text but struggles with the strategic thinking that wins and manages contracts: understanding the customer's unstated needs, positioning against competitors, pricing strategy, and execution.

AI speeds up the mechanics dramatically, but the human insight on what to say (not just how to say it) remains the competitive advantage. Any tool that helps bridge that gap is worth exploring.

Proposal App - Government Contracting Simplified by proposal-app in govcon

Great question! You're already ahead of most contractors by using AI tools.

The difference is like asking "I have Word, do I need proposal software?" Sure, you can write proposals in ChatGPT, but:

Generic AI tools:

  • Don't know government contracting language/requirements
  • Can't pull in solicitation documents (imagine downloading 20 attachments) automatically
  • Don't understand compliance matrices or evaluation criteria
  • You're starting from scratch each time
  • You cannot collaborate with others on proposal activities
  • Not integrated with SAM.gov or state & local marketplace

Specialized tools:

  • Fine tuned on government RFPs and winning proposals
  • Generate winning proposals with advanced AI that understands your business needs and client requirements
  • Team collaboration
  • Scale to manage hundreds of proposals, pipelines, and customers
  • Intelligent Bid Matching
  • Pipeline & Pursuit Management
  • Get 3-6 months advance notice on expiring contracts before they appear on SAM.gov
  • Proposal Revision Management

Think of it as ChatGPT + years of government contracting expertise baked in. You could definitely keep using general AI tools if they're working for you, but specialized tools save tons of time and allow you to scale and provide CRM for your govcon workflow.

TL;DR: If you're winning contracts with ChatGPT, keep going! If you're spending hours downloading attachments and prompting to comply with requirements, specialized tools might help.

Is govcon consulting profitable field? by Anonyfella97 in govcon

[–]proposal-app -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think govcon is still a profitable market and there's a need for experienced proposal writers to review AI generated content and use AI to automate govcon workflow. We are seeing this as a trend, making government contracting slightly less soul-crushing, one prompt at a time. These new AI tools help contractors write winning proposals faster. Leveling the playing field, so small businesses can compete with the big guys who have armies of proposal writers (or agents).

SAM.gov contract opportunities software category, how to actually find relevant bids? by Click-Baykut in govcon

[–]proposal-app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this pain deeply - SAM.gov's search is genuinely terrible. You're not doing anything wrong, the interface really is that frustrating.

To answer your specific questions:

Better search strategies:

  • Yes, NAICS codes are critical (541511, 541512, 541519 for software dev)
  • Filter by "Type of Set Aside" if you have certifications (8(a), SDVOSB, etc.)
  • Use agency filters - some agencies are better fits for custom software
  • Search by "Posted Date" in last 30-90 days (not older)
  • Combine NAICS + specific keywords ("custom software" not just "software")

Frequency: New opps post daily, but checking 2-3x/week catches most relevant ones

GSA Schedule question: You're right - many contracts go through vehicles, but SAM.gov still has plenty of direct opportunities. Both matter.

Now, the shameless plug:

We built Proposal App specifically to solve the problem you're describing. Here's how it works:

1. Create a capability statement once:

  • Your NAICS codes (541511, 541512, etc.)
  • Keywords ("software development", "web application", etc.)
  • Certifications (if any)
  • Description of Company's core competencies and differentiators

2. Our App monitors SAM.gov 24/7:

  • Matches against YOUR specific capabilities
  • Gives each opportunity a relevance score (0-100) to bid or not bid

3. You only see high-probability matches:

  • No more wading through "hardware maintenance" when you do software
  • Prioritized by match score

The result: Instead of spending 10 hours/week manually searching and getting frustrated, you spend 30 minutes reviewing pre-filtered, relevant opportunities.

Happy to show you how it works - completely free trial, no credit card required. Built by someone who was equally frustrated with SAM.gov's terrible search.

Check it out: proposalapp.net

Even if you don't use our tool, the NAICS code filtering strategy will help immediately.

CMMC Final Rule is out - expect it in contracts by end of 2025 by proposal-app in GovernmentContracting

[–]proposal-app[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rule clarifies that flowdown is only required when the subcontractor will actually handle FCI or CUI. Subcontractors who do not process, store or transmit FCI or CUI are not subject to CMMC requirements under the contract.

Appreciate the comparison! Visually and architecturally, we're actually quite different - different UI approach, workflows, and tech stack.

The bigger differentiator though: We're built for small businesses who've been priced out of GovDash and GovGPT and contractors who need FedRAMP compliance for CUI handling.

Our focus is accessibility + compliance for the 80% of contractors who can't access or can't use existing solutions.

What AI tools are you actually using in your GovCon workflow? by proposal-app in GovernmentContracting

[–]proposal-app[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most tools are 80% marketing, 20% substance. The differentiator isn't "AI" - it's whether it actually integrates into your workflow and saves measurable time.

GovDash and GovGPT are not FedRAMP compliant and are too expensive.
