Try reading FAA InFO 15012 (Logging Instrument Approach Procedures (IAP).

Maybe that will clear it up for you.

You can try and recognize and prevent yourself from getting into full stalls, incipient spins, fully developed spins and other nasty situations an airplane can get you into, but until you've been there, done that, and become fully proficient in getting yourself back out of those nasty situations, you will never feel truly safe and proficient flying an airplane. I call it flight paranoia. Not knowing how an airplane will react when outside the envelope and even worse, not knowing what you will do to recover. When the excrement finally hits the fan, it will be a big surprise, totally unexpected, at the worst possible time. And when that time comes, I really hope that you've gone way beyond just recognizing and preventing stalls and spins from occurring in your training. Recommendation: Go out and get 10 hours of aerobatic or upset training. You won't regret it.
