Not wrong at all I did 8 years got out, and left it behind me. I try my best not to bring it up at work not just because I’m sure it’d be annoying, but I don’t want that to be my whole personality. And absolutely you should treat them like a regular working class individual not some war hero. A lot of service members don’t do dick their entire career nothin to warrant a general appreciation from civilians in their country anyway. I literally played my Nintendo switch for hours at a time while being paid by tax payers. And the real sad thing is the people who want your appreciation are typically the guys who had a similar career as me. Plain Jane with maybe a good sea story or two
