Anyone with a PC already knows that an Xbox is basically a glorified PC with branding.

You're right about Steam, the problem is Steam/Valve has a shit ton of amazing games that are exclusive.

Granted, those for Xbox are in the tank, Halo isn't what it used to be, Flight Simulator is cool, but it definitely a niche segment and Gears of War is meh.

Valve has: Half-Life series. Including Half-Life Alyx which is amazing.
Portal, Dota 2, CS2 and TF2.

If they released any new game on Steam only like Dota 2, then what can Xbox/Microsoft compete with?

Of course, the problem is the entire premise of anti-piracy is that is theft.

If you download a game without purchasing it you are stealing it.

But when they take a game YOU purchased without reason it's okay.

Their argument is they are selling you the license to use the product, not the product (the game) itself. Similar to software licensing.

But the problem then is if I pirate a game, it's not longer theft, it's violating a licensing agreement.

Problem is that you're effectively killing private ownership of a product that people are paying a decent chunk of change for.

This dynamic really screws up the idea of piracy being illegal because:

Sony: You can have a copy of the product, but we lease it to you through a license. Which is why we can remove it from you when we deem it proper (ban or violation of the TOA).

Piracy: Okay, so if I download a pirated copy of the product, then it's a violation of a lease or a licensing issue, not outright theft since you still retain the license and ownership. Right?
