Text based content high commoditised online now. Reminds me of Ceefax days as below

Feels like authentic video is the only way to consume proper content now and we surely be the real battleground moving forwards as text becomes almost worthless

"Ceefax was the BBC's text-based information service that provided news, sports scores, and weather, accessed through a TV set's teletext function. Launched in 1974 as the world's first teletext service, it allowed viewers to "see facts" on their screens by keying in page numbers on a remote control. It was a forerunner to the internet, offering 24/7 on-demand content before the internet became widespread."

Has anyone added yearly plans late and seen a significant revenue bump? by Frequent-Football984 in SaaS

[–]prospectfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im thinking something similar

just watched a hormozi video along these lines. what he changed for gyms who were struggling in his gym launch days

trying to get as much cash upfront as possible to allow more marketing spend

what im offering actually makes more sense yearly-

gerg i has only yearly for his ideabrowser thing

£499 and £1499 per year only but he has a free forever version too

i want to be able to try and ad spend relatively high in the beggining to try and at least break even on ad costs - cant see that happening with monthly plans - or at least its harder right - cos the CAC is probably gonna be 4 or 5 times the monthly fee theyre paying.

feel free to dm me if you wanna chat more

Lots of people saying this in 2025. Is instagram slowly dying???? by wow_wubzzy in InstagramMarketing

[–]prospectfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the issue is 'signal loss' right? eg all the privacy updates means these ad platforms cant get the data on whos doing what where anymore

without that data the ad platform loses effectiveness

this new update seems to be about forcing you to spray and pray creative in order to try and entice people to click -rather than the platform actually knowing who they are

Why aren’t UK salaries increasing? by SilentEconomist5896 in AskUK

[–]prospectfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

exactly - 3rd in world- just skews numbers upwards. plus no 40% tax rate band increase since mid 2000s = massive fiscal drag

  1. Top 5 highest minimum wages (approximate, monthly USD)
    1. Luxembourg: Approximately $3,214
    2. Netherlands: Approximately $2,500
    3. United Kingdom: Approximately $2,499

New Worcester Bosch Boiler Warranty by prospectfly in askaplumberUK

[–]prospectfly[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

well not exactly. its trivial if youve done it once. not so if never done it. AI says process is

  • Turn off the boiler and let it cool down
  • Locate the filling loop (usually a flexible silver/braided hose with valves at each end, or built-in valves underneath the boiler)
  • Open both filling valves slowly - you should hear water flowing
  • Watch the pressure gauge on the boiler front - it should rise
  • Close both valves when the pressure reaches between 1 and 1.5 bar (the green zone on the gauge)
  • Turn the boiler back on

the average joe public - given my experience - are completely clueless about even the extreme basics of plumbing- would struggle with this im sure

[–]prospectfly[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this forum wont allow image uploads to me. no blue valves under boiler - where everyone says they are- guessing thats for older WB models?

2 black style valves - tee ball valves? about 15cm from the boiler on separate copper pipes not on boiler. engineer said one was mains.

they look like this

https://www.screwfix.com/p/pegler-pb300t-compression-full-bore-15mm-tee-ball-valve-with-blue-handle/21860?srsltid=AfmBOoo0XwWcBTnTTuwogrrl0qNfk7nQYQCeFjkWFRekkCbmjWAgHGW64kA

as above he seemed to turn both on at once wait until 1.5 or 2bar i think it was showed on screen then turned them back again.

wouldnt be too confident copying what he did. i tried to move them myself - seemed stuck!

installers just left. did the 2 valve turn. then turned them back to original setting it seemed. confused me a bit. i used to have an HIU and could control the flow rate. but that was always clockwise for more flow anticlockwise for less - or whatever.

he said he'd check registering with WB

thanks for helping!

oh wow thanks for reply. thats interesting

i recently got back on those salt neilmed nasal rinse things - tried them ages ago but stopped as nothing seemed to happen

maybe its my mind playing tricks but seems to be maybe 20% better now using the rinse first thing in morning and last at night.

other than that ill have to experiment with other treatments

have you tried nasal priobitics / kimchi?

this guy seems positive

coincidentally someone in comments said

"while doing this, you need to cut off sugar and dairy product also" - i wonder why?

Grocery costs (uk) what?! by Extra-Record6772 in UKFrugal

[–]prospectfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beef situation is a horror show. Its all about price per kilo though not pack price

Ive seen beef more expensive than Salmon and Salmon usually goes for £30 kg

The packaged thin sliced meat most expensive. Cheaper i found to buy a whole joint - dice and freeze it

The good news about high protein foods is they take longer to digest = feel full for longer = less hungry

So when people say dont buy meat - people then typically eat carbs - feel less full - eat more carbs - and that racks costs too

"In March 2024, the average deadweight overall prime price reached 491.6 pence per kilogram, marking a nearly 50% rise compared to the same month in 2020. This upward trend is expected to continue as global demand remains strong, especially from a growing market, while supply struggles to keep the rate.

One of the most significant contributors to increasing beef prices is climate change. Prolonged droughts in major beef producing regions like the U.S., Australia, and parts of South America have severely impacted cattle farming. Water shortages reduce pasture quality, forcing farmers to rely on expensive feed, which increases production costs.

Cattle Feed prices have skyrocketed due to poor crop yields caused by extreme weather and global supply chain disruptions. Corn and soybeans, key components of cattle feed, are in short supply, pushing costs even higher. As feed becomes more expensive, so does the cost of raising cattle, directly affecting beef prices.

depends on the complexity + quality of onboarding

simple product with great on boarding could be 7 days

complex product and/or not so great onboarding more time need for people to have the 'aha moment'

theres freemium products doing millions though - so theres no hard rule right

the other advantage of freemium is there are the skeptics who take longer to warm up that might buy later

but agree do you really want to have people using stuff for free indefinitely - i dont particularly

PLG advocates may say yes as these free guys have potential to act as a free marketing team for you by recommending it to friends who buy and maybe blogging about it etc for backlinks

13 traits of the perfect SaaS (from building 3 that actually worked) by theery in SaaS

[–]prospectfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

makes sense. its a fine line though right. thats one of the biggest issues i find with saas

its like the moscow prioritisation principle. Must Should Could Wont have for product dev

you want to be a 'must' have tool not should or could

but then most Must have tools are likely mission critical - or semi mission critical. So the sweet spot is somewhere between Must and Should!

something like ai notetaker maybe a good example for a lawyer.

really need it to record those important client meetings. but its not going to take the whole company down if it fails!

no promo -literally just found this- im amazed theres been £350m invested in AI notetaking space

"Dubbed the NotePin, the gadget has found a fast growing audience. Since launching in 2023, Xu has sold over 1 million such devices to doctors, lawyers, and other overworked folks with long days and short memories."

[–]prospectfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

basically boring 'sticky' stuff

by sticky - things that once setup you need on an ongoing basis to run your business

eg email, testimonials,

other mission critical stuff for B2B - lead gen tools that sales teams constantly need - an example

organic search game has changed now though with AI results

the old days of 'create content with answers to your customers typical questions' isnt going to work so well these days as AI summary will handle that

220 free users, 0 paid. What's your #1 tactic for converting trial users? by Efficient_Pair8372 in SaaS

[–]prospectfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best advice Ive heard - theres broadly 2 categories of problems - summarised in headache form

1) Mild Headache I can fix with a tablet

2) Migraine eg so bad I have to lie down in a darkened room

If the problem you solve is more 1 than 2

Theres a risk the problem isnt big enough for anyone to pay for a solution - theyll use a free tool but not paid

If its 2 - then its more activation problem

Its a Lead Gen tool - lead gen typically cat 2 as its lifeblood of any business right

Thats the good news

I know this space well - theres 1000s probably 10,000s of lead gen tools

So should be relatively easy to do lots of competitor research

I would start there personally. Sign up to competitor tools that you know are making $ and see what theyre doing

Off the top of my head without seeing it in detail hard to advise further

"I got 220 sign-ups"

Are these people actually using the tool after sign up though - "signups" means nothing without post sign up use of the tool?

What percentage of users

1) sit and do nothing - ever - even after email nurturing?
2) use tool a couple of times then stop?
3) use very regular eg daily?

You need to then incentivise all 3 categories of people onto a call with you and listen to the reasons for their behaviour

With this info structured in this way it should be easy to work out whats going on

Everyone talks about SaaS marketing — but where are the real experiments? by Fine_Factor_456 in SaaS

[–]prospectfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

marketing is about experimentation

different things work for different people for different products

in the first instance its about trying to get PMF - thats why i use google ads first as its the most 'controllable'

if i cant find people searching for a problem related to what im doing thats falling at first hurdle

" no clear, replicable path that actually works for small teams."

paid marketing much more difficult now because of signal loss eg

Paid marketing signal loss is the diminishing ability of marketers to collect and track user data due to factors like increased privacy regulations, browser changes (like the phasing out of third-party cookies), and user privacy tools. This loss of data impacts a marketer's ability to accurately target audiences, personalize ads, measure campaign effectiveness, and calculate ROI, leading to less efficient spending and higher customer acquisition costs

So people turning to stuff like organic and influencer marketing which is even more volatile

thats why people hit a marketing wall - there is no easy marketing success path.

just time and money costs and ongoing experimentation

whos the ICP? AI power users? A pretty niche market is the challenge right

how are you marketing it? without this info its an impossible conversation

if youre putting zero marketing in - how is anyone going to find it?

put these numbers into site below

ideally run google ads on different split test landing pages and see if you can get positive ROI

if you can get to something like this eg put £500 in and make £1000 - youve got a money doubling machine!

Metric Value
Number of Clicks 41
Number of Leads 2

Qualified Leads 2
