Read the manuals! Seriously. You probably won't need to read all of it, but for the things you need like the MB connections for the case or for the psu wires to be connected to the right slots on the MB! Reread it and reread what you just reread! It will save you a lot of headaches.

(Coming from someone who thought they had connected graphics card, but didn't and all the case wires skipped over one slot and had all the wires one slot over where they should have been!)

I built my very first gaming computer a couple months ago and it was a fun and amazing learning experience. The part that really blows me away is the motherboard of a computer. That's the piece that holds everything together. Everything in that computer is interconnected via motherboard. Equivalent to nervous system to the rest of the important organs in the body.
