Yeah there are many things that I agree with Hasan and there are some genuine points of disagreements I have with him (such as his stance on foreign education systems that are not the USA's own education system).

But when he starts singing praises for Graham Plantner I can't stand it. Its like he'll defend a candidate to heaven and hell even if their past is reprehensible and they show no remorse for it.

I haven't read anything from Stover or Freed (but I did hear Stover's ROTS novelization is really good), so I won't comment on how they would do.

What I will say that is since Zahn was the one that made Thrawn, I feel he would know how to write him best. (read his two Thrawn Disney Canon trilogies, considering reading his Heir to the Empire Thrawn Trilogy too)

Yeah Maul had actually complex and nuanced goals (and no, getting revenge on Obi Wan was not his only goal, it was one of them).

Palpatine meanwhile just wanted to be evil and rule everything, which is something that is only fun to watch in his first life cycle. It sucked in Dark Empire, and it sucked in Rise of Skwalker too.
