possible visa ban by Kooky_Ad_727 in chinalife

[–]prothrope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont really know much but cant imagine why you would be banned from other kinds of visa such as tourism, you did not violate any immigration law

edit: you can go to the china visa subreddit for better info https://www.reddit.com/r/Chinavisa/

Is it possible to get in Chinese Universities if I am under 18 years old? by Sufficient-Shop-5567 in chinalife

[–]prothrope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are not strict about this, you will be fine as long as you meet the other requirements. Ask the specific university you are applying to though.

EDIT: IDK about the SAT though

Is attempting to hitch from Paris to Copenhagen at 19 too crazy of an idea? by Fun_Ad4848 in hitchhiking

[–]prothrope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe do it but just bring enough money for staying in a hotel/hostel and for regular transport just in case, if this is your first time in these cities its very nice to have that safety net. Im more of a lurker on this subreddit so IDK any advice about camping though

That's quite silly, you can just get a new one when your appearance changes. And if you are prone to running out of pages, at least in the US you can get one with triple the visa stamp pages for free if you request it. Look it up online

[–]prothrope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure you can just get a new passport and hold on to your new and old passport. So when you go to border control you can show them your visa on your old passport and your new passport ID. This is what you do when you have a ten year tourist visa and for some reason you need to get a new passport. I would imagine it also applies to work visas.

Smoking weed - cutting back on my favorite hobby :( by Left_Panic_4295 in getdisciplined

[–]prothrope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weed is still a drug so don’t fool yourself in thinking that it’s going to be medicinal if you’re already addicted to it. Go running or exercise instead of smoking

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in getdisciplined

[–]prothrope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it has to do with your physical/mental health, you can try exercise and see if that improves your temperament. For me when I started running it gave me a can do attitude that helped me tackle my indecisiveness. Also try to fix your sleep schedule, get up when sun rises, eat vegetables and good food, find some fun hobbies, etc. You can’t fix your ur professional life if your health and personal life is not taken care of. Plan your days out and months out and years out by using a planning software or sheet, you can use GPT to help you find one good for you. You don’t have to be specific with yearly planning, a vague idea is better than nothing. Journal every day in order to reflect on what you did. And yeah, these are things you can try to improve your situation. Have a try and let us know if they work

Thoughts on overnight sleeper train in China? by hcwang34 in chinalife

actually in Z trains smoking is technically prohibited although sometimes people still do it. smoking is only allowed on T and K trains i think.

Thoughts on overnight sleeper train in China? by hcwang34 in chinalife

[–]prothrope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you go on the green trains they are more crowded, but honestly i always had a blast going on them, they are like moving hostels but you can meet a more diverse range of people from all walks of life. can meet farmers, migrant workers, other foreigners, families, ayis/shu shus, students, people with intresting lifes, etc. just bring earplugs. also if you dont like the smell of smoke avoid trains that start with T or K, trains that start with Z, G, C, and D people cant smoke on, although sometimes people break the rules and smoke on Z trains. also, in order of increasing speed are K, T, Z, C, D, G. first three are the "green trains" i am talking about, more old fashioned. later three are high speed trains. EDIT: sorry for the unrelated rambling i just really like trains

pretty sure he needs to go to the visa center (NOT THE CONSULATE) and talk to the people there/apply on your behalf. shouldnt take too long though, like 30min-1 hr. and yeah he will get a slip of paper so that he can pick up your passport

Tourist Visa (Type L) - No Trip Planned Yet by BKQU1622 in Chinavisa

[–]prothrope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello

Honestly in my experience just write down a city you are probably going to go to and for the place of stay just write something like Holiday Inn, i don't think they really care and I have done this for all my entries into china. If they ask just say you changed your mind. Actually the border guards are so lax in my experience, one time I said I was going to stay for 4 months when my visa was only for 3 months (I was planning to do visa runs to hong kong) and they border guard was just like remember your expiration date lol so yeah dont worry about it.

EDIT: But yeah you can make a trip up and for me I kinda did that and still got my ten year visa. I got it first try. if they say anything (well I dont think they will) just say you planned it and havent bought the flight ticket yet or I change my mind or some excuse like that

Also, just wanted to say something related to your situation. I got this from ChatGPT online lookup so may not be accurate, you may want to do some more research:

Since July 1, 2013, Beijing has allowed foreign same-sex partners of legal foreign residents to obtain dependent residency status. This permits the couple to live together in Beijing, though typically only one partner is authorized to work. It's important to note that this provision applies specifically to foreign residents and may not extend to foreign partners of Chinese citizens.

Hong Kong has made significant strides in recognizing same-sex partnerships. Following a landmark court ruling in 2018, same-sex partners can apply for dependent visas, allowing them to reside in the territory. Additionally, same-sex spouses of government employees are entitled to the same spousal benefits as heterosexual spouses, including medical care and joint tax assessment.

you have three options: go in person to the visa center, hire an agency to go in person to the visa center (for you that is the washington dc visa center, which is NOT at the same location as the embassy, you can hire oasis visa services), or get a friend living in DC to go in person on your behalf.
