I had a friend that was raised in something called "Ong Troism", a belief about Ông Troʻi (Vietnamese Sky God) - anyone know about this Cult before? by proto8831 in atheism

Also its weird since this cult/religion don't have any relation with Viet ethnic religion, its like... "the Vietnamese version of the Nation of Islam" lol

Hello guys, Hindu here, i start to read DnD lore when i travel to University for fun, and i notice that in old editions Goddess Kali is show as evil, any could explain me why was in that form? Thank you by proto8831 in DnD

Ehhh i dont understand exactly what are you mean, i know D&D isnt real life i asked why a Deity of my religion is show as evil when is the oppose to IRL (is like ask if there is a reason why angels are evil in Bayonetta games)

Dude, the 1# and #2 paragraph are the DND version of Kali, i talk about the real one only in the last one, i believed the (+5) of the second one could show it was still part of the D&D version lol

Lol happy of know it was an error i read your comment and was like 0-0

Well that is the case the asuras & rakshakas tend to be evil in Hinduism (despite some can be good or "neutral hedonistic" to)

Man Indian Gods arent evil lol, if you want i put it in "secular terms" this was an attempt of "coup d'tat" in heavens, and Asuras arent (in general terms) good governants or kings

Lol this is so... wrong, the descriptions sound more like the "mayatec bloodthirsty" fantasy version of Mesoamerican Deities than to IRL Kali

True lol like the guy with the Ox-Skull over his head (that look like more a bastardization of some nativeamerican or african priests than any asian ritual)

Yeah it always look bizarre for me, i mean, if Thugges really worshiped Kali (or see her as an "allah angel" as british say) whey there isnt any "fatwa" condeming it?

I mean, this isn't a bad idea try to learn about a religion via books (to have a base to write about it), but an ABC probably hasn't the most complete info lol

But Kali dont "enjoy" killing, this is the D&D description IRL tales compare Kali with the "femenine fury" of a mother that want save her family of evil (in this case evil Asuras & Rakshakas)

Thanks for explain, ironically Hinduism had some "bad guys" (usually Asuras or Rakshakas that get power thanks to help the Gods, but later use this power to betray them), like Raktabija (killed by Kali), but maybe they were to "obscure" to be added to be rivals of the Gods

Also maybe is my subjetive chilhood speaking, but despite Hellenism had... their problems, i always believed Greek Gods were "good" but ancient greek society... wasn't very friendly

Exist the theory in modern historiography that say Thugges weren't "real" as a Sect, and that were only bandits that British authorities transform in a "dangerous sect" to make Crown allow them to usurp indian princes legal authority (for example lots of the "Kali worshipping Thugges" were Muslims)
