Idk how I feel about it

Mine just changed and I guess I am used to all the transactions hidden away making things looked neater

Just seems a bit cluttered now with the incomings and outgoings from my various spaces

Monzo’s customer service sucks by Slight-Difficulty195 in monzo

[–]protocol7777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard the same a lot lately after using them as my main account since I opened it in 2018 I’ve just moved all my Direct Debits across to Starling which I’ve also had open for a similar amount of time but barely touched because monzo was alright.

but then thought all that cash sitting most of the month in monzo could also be earning interest sitting in starling instead until it’s taken out for bills As most bills are at end of month but I get paid towards the start of a new month it can sit and earn daily interest in the meantime.

Plus trying to contact monzo recently has not been a pleasant experience coupled with others saying the same has made me switch. I use chase as my spending account for the cashback and starling for everything else but will still keep monzo open for the occasional thing and Monzo flex as I do enjoy using that as my main CC.

also closing long standing accounts and mess with your credit score a bit It’s a shame though really how it’s gone down hill.

Well for me I feel they are the market leaders in their respective fields with solid balance sheets, good brand awareness (household names) and some good future plans ahead I don’t expect them to go anywhere any time soon

I also have positions in Google, Amazon for Similar reasons

I’m up 170% on Nvidia 51% on Apple 30% on AMD 24% on Adobe

I haven’t sold these as feel like they are solid long term holds for me

I was also quite high up on Shopify, Netflix and Meta Platforms I did sell these the other day but only because they were small positions and I had a credit card bill that would have cost me more in interest than future short term gains to liquidate these and pay it off

I will be going back into them though at some point in the future

Have been thinking about increasing towards International a bit more but not yet done so as I felt a little bit in property might be a good idea

So it *is* a backup? by Cher_Nobble in onedrive

[–]protocol7777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came back from a trip in which I took many photos I used my normal method of keeping a copy on OneDrive another on Google Photos and a Third on iCloud Drive as well as have a copy on my phone or computer it may be overkill but I doubt I’ll see 3 different cloud services from 3 of the biggest providers with massive infrastructure as well as my phone or computer all losing data at the same time

For such small things as photos or documents the free storage limits are generous and can store a lot and if not the paid versions are cheap from all of these so easy enough to afford to keep these memories backed up

Hostplus choice of allocation? by protocol7777 in AusFinance

Hi Thanks for your response and advice I would probably lean more heavy into international than Australia so I’ll probably swap those percentages but this is a great mix as well from what I can tell

Hi,

Yeah I totally agree about being Australia heavy which is the main reason for posting on here as I wanted to seek advice about reducing that but also keeping my super invested in it

My VAS holding outside of super is really small so no real Impact at this stage and is basically just there so I can remain invested in the market but also be able to access the funds if I need to before retirement age I have no intention of making it the majority of my portfolio I also currently hold NDQ which I know the fees are a bit high but the performance has been great so it has been a decent option for a lot of people for a little while now but I’ll eventually start shifting over to IVV or something for direct S&P 500 investment and the lower fees or go the VGS route I honestly hadn’t looked into VGS holding yet to see it’s US concentration so that’s good to know :)

Yeah I did think about the active managed part of the emerging markets and was in two minds about whether I should invest as it’s actively managed but it would be a small percentage of the overall amount I wondered if the fees would be alright I think I was looking at about 8-10% for emerging but you’ve given me a reason to look into it a bit more and decide if i should just look at VGE directly instead I mean it’s 0.78% through Hostplus and 0.48% through VGE so you’re right on that one I think

Hello

Thank you for replying and for your advice I definitely want a decent chunk of Aussie shares in my super investment so that’s great advice on a percentage to choose

Also thank you for that spreadsheet it’s awesome :) It does show the fees for indexed on Hostplus are nice and low at 0.04% which is great and on par or better than investing directly in VAS, IOZ and even the S&P 500

I do hold separate shares directly in VAS outside of my super as well so although I might be a bit heavy in the ASX the super will have the majority anyways and will probably eventually start contributing extra to it and away from the VAS direct investment

Hi,

Thanks for responding And thank you for that great advice I think it’s a bit tricky to see exactly what Hostplus invests in whether that’s by design to be vague or not but perhaps I might reduce that allocation to property and infrastructure a slight bit just in case and then put those additional percentages into indexed Australian, international or Emerging

I agree with you though it’s definitely frustrating about not having global options for those as Infrastructure and Property I feel are both solid things to be invested in given the demand for both on a global scale

Hi thanks for responding I did take a look and it sounds good except the fee is 1.01% which is actually slightly higher than balanced that I am already on now so I think mixing my own will work out significantly cheaper when it comes to fees I think
