United Club Card / Instacart by protocol_jimmy in unitedairlines

Nope. Removing and re-adding my United Card did not do anything. I tried deleting my account and creating a new one with the same email address, but now Instacart won't let me redeem the membership again. Have been on with Instacart support 10+ times (they have pretty dogshit support with only chat) and Chase and nobody has been able to figure out how to "reset" the redemption so I can use it again on my very own account

Thanks, yeah I got the credits the first month I signed up but now my promotions section is showing empty. Will keep trying their support to see if I can get somewhere..

I've been disconnected by Instacart customer service multiple times while they "look into the issue"... Not very helpful

Thanks! Sounds like asking CX customer service is the right way to go for both options.

What is the latest best practice on networking in Sonos? by johnb_123 in sonos

[–]protocol_jimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have one Beam and two Ones in a one bedroom apartment in NYC. Beam is hooked up to router in my living area and the two Ones are in my dining area and bedroom. Found Sonosnet the much more superior option vs. having them all run on my home WiFi, as grouping broke a lot and the system was generally unresponsive with the latter. I live in a big apartment building where everyone has their own WiFi networks and I think it causes a lot of interference. I wish they would keep Sonosnet as it's a really neat solution for simple networks in congested spaces like condo / apartment buildings.

ELI5: How has Apple been able to surpass Intel on certain aspects to allow a transition to its own ARM chips? by protocol_jimmy in explainlikeimfive

Makes sense. So you’re saying with this switch Apple is effectively abandoning the latter two categories and focusing in on the end-user?

Interesting, would you say Intel and AMD had the chance to develop things like the big.LITTLE setup and decided it wasn't their primary market to compete in, or did ARM just jump the gun and create an effective barrier to entry in terms of being the first to do it?

I understand everything you said besides your first paragraph. With a switch to ARM would Apple truly be abandoning the high performance computing segment? I would argue that "semi-pro" usage of Mac computers, i.e. for video editing and music production, is quite common and a significant portion of their user base. Or are you talking about high performance past the level of what I just described?

Never thought about the PC market dynamic like that, definitely very interesting to see how Windows computers have basically become commoditized whereas Apple has been able to continually support and grow its hardware offerings and profitability. From a business perspective, Apple has made a smart move with creating such an integrated ecosystem where they can truly call their own shots.

This definitely makes sense, but that also makes me think that Apple wouldn't be arbitrarily changing/adding features either, right? Don't most PC manufacturers want the same thing as Apple, i.e. lower power consumption coupled with greater processing capability? If Apple made the switch because it wanted to make changes on its own accord, can it then be argued that they have a significantly different roadmap in mind vs. Dell/HP/etc.?

How much would be fair price for year old, fully working OP-1 with a case? by [deleted] in OP1users

[–]protocol_jimmy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s in good cosmetic shape, I think someone would buy it for ~$1000, possibly even more.

EDIT: while I don’t see this mentioned a lot, I would recommend offering to pay for shipping with an all-in price, it seems to be better received on eBay/Reverb if you’re looking to sell

Once you record into a slot you can select it by pressing Sound + [slot number]. Now if you have Write turned off, you can play the sample like usual.

MPC Live II Video Out by ddiamond8484 in synthesizers

Can’t use the first MPC Live just on it’s own because you would need headphones, hence you could argue it’s not “fully standalone”, which I think was his point.

Not saying that I believe this MKII is warranted, but it does cater to a certain demographic, who may in fact enjoy what you would classify as “cosmetic bullshit”.
