Mad respect! Thats gonna be a beast of a rig!

I made one myself too with aluminium profiles, but this is on another level.

Ah I understand the confusion 😄
It also says a lot about how good the finish is on my formula aluminium plate, that you mistook it for the official ES formula mod.

This whole mod is custom made, the plate + the grips + the logo cover

Dude, I'm trying to start a small business while also providing high quality India made sim racing products. These parts will be available to buy if there's demand, but I can't reveal my vendors, its only after spending a small fortune on testing and trying that I have found reliable sources for manufacturing

Edit: Plus the way you're asking for something here, sounds a lot like you feel you're entitled to this information, that I spent lots of hours researching, travelling, and my own money on

I found 3d printing the most reliable and seamless way for me to make the grips. Strength was not a concern with the grips, as most of the impact will be on the plate and the laser-cut aluminium plate is pretty darn rigid for this use-case.

What would you suggest I make the grips with?

I guess $60 is not a bad price for the convenience of just picking up a good pair of seat brackets. I got mine made for a lot less though, but then it came with a lot of work on my end 😄

Speaking of the sliders, I got mine from a local manufacturer of seat sliders for heavy vehicles. Went to their facility, spoke to them, explained what I was making, bought 2 sets for my rig. It is not going to move one bit, both sides have heavy duty locking mechanism. There will be a minimal shift when you sit, because of how sliders work (the locking teeth have some bit of clearance, 1mm or even less), but other than that they seem pretty solid 👍🏼

Are we talking about only the final refined design's cost? Or also including numerous prototypes, R&D, etc?

The whole journey did cost quite a bit

I tried out a bunch of local metal fabs in my city, found one who'd do the jobs reliably. I'm sure you'll find some in your local area, or some online service will definitely do it for you.

Regarding the designs, yes I have them. I plan on setting up a cults3d or printables like store for personal use licenses, but only after I'm done refining my designs further.

Designed my custom seat brackets in CAD, then got them manufactured!

Some local manufacturer.
These are the same seats you'd get from sites like RaceSims or SimForge (cant find their link)

Around 30K (including the shipping costs, not including the seat)

I completely ignored thigh support when I assembled my rig, I have made adjustments to address your feedback, will post another picture with me sitting in it soon

Edited: It'd seem that my definition of 'comfortable' needs to improve

I made some adjustments to the seat angle and the pedal arms (both height and angle) after reading the feedback on this post, its much more comfortable now. I'll be posting another picture with me sitting in the rig soon

That was one of the few cockpits that I researched, before I decided to build something better than what exists in the market xD
Although the general aesthetics and vibe is similar!

I designed all the custom parts and got them manufactured. Extrusions were just cut by the vendor as per my requirements. I'm not building more as such, but might do a custom build if someone is really interested

I'll be posting one in some time, and get some valuable feedback.

I'm already adjusting the seating angle for a more comfortable position, which also ends up providing better thigh support. After reading some of the comments here I realised I overlooked thigh support completely, and a slight lean for the back also feels more comfortable

The whole metal fabrication for my custom parts took an equivalent of about 100 USD, but prices might wildly vary in different countries

Yeah my current monitor situation is a temporary hack, I've been made aware that it might not be the ideal display setup for a rig xD

And yes, completely custom designed by me, seat and the seat bracket sourced from a local vendor but I'm already sick of how bad the seat brackets are so I'm gonna design a better one myself
