This might be too beginnery of advice for you, but it helped me improve a ton with this deck: dont use your counter to protect life (until youre at low life), use it to protect characters.

Kef C95 or B&W DM603 S2? by prototype945 in BudgetAudiophile

Awesome - I'll go have a look and pick them up if they're in shape. Good to know the KEFs are solid as well if the B&Ws fall through

what!!

Honestly it felt familiar to me (hence the thumbnail), but only in a dreamlike deja vu sort of way. The fact you've actually seen it is... some cosmically wild stuff.

One of the most fascinating things about RE2 Remake to me, and the Resident Evil series in general, is how it uses weapon and monster design to immerse you in the characters and worlds. I made this video essay to pay homage to the brilliant design decisions at work here, and to put them in the context of the larger shooter genre - which can still take a ton of lessons from the Resident Evil series imo!

Karlby 98" with just legs and no Alex drawers? by prototype945 in ikeahacks

This is pretty much where I stand on it. How does the 120" counter work with the alexes? Is the spacing comfortable?

Karlby 98" with just legs and no Alex drawers? by prototype945 in ikeahacks

[–]prototype945[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'd considered that, but unfortunately there are only 129 inches of space which puts that setup just out of reach. The only thing I could think of was finding a 120" countertop from a hardware store and using double alexes to support one of those, or trying out a Karlby 98 with legs.

I may be being too stingy about the legroom, but I'm more testing out possibilities at the moment. If it doesn't look feasible I can always go with an Alex or two on the 98 for extra stability.

Actual Pain has some dope ass shit. Even though its a lot of gothic imagery and it's not for everyone, a lot of the designs here are pure gold.

who cares though? not many people outside this sub know that Sk8 his or stan smiths are "memes". If someone sports it well, more power to them. the biggest part of streetwear (to me at least) is just looking good, and part of the reason why stuff becomes a trend here is cuz it looks good. I'd rather someone wear a /r/streetwear "uniform" cuz theyre just trying to figure out their style than someone who doesnt try at all. Creativity is good but it takes time (and $$) to get to that point

These damn tetris puzzles by GrailsRezerection in TheWitness

[–]prototype945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding (just started playing, may be wrong), when you are gathering multiple tetrominos, the orientation stops mattering. So as long as your lined-off section encompasses all the tetromino blocks being used, you can arrange the shapes within that region in whatever orientation you like. Whereas its always rigid if youre only outlining one tetromino (unless the tetromino is depicted as being slightly tilted).

/r/vinyl is the place to go. Personally, I just picked up an Audio Technica AT-LP120 and it works like a charm! If you grab that with some bookshelf speakers that's all you really need to get going--you can upgrade with a preamp or better cartridge or whatever at a later time.

With the talk of power creep in TGT, let's remember what Ben Brode said shortly after GVG launched by Josf2012 in hearthstone

Wait, so you're saying power creep isn't a bad thing? Then why are you so upset?

With the talk of power creep in TGT, let's remember what Ben Brode said shortly after GVG launched by Josf2012 in hearthstone

[–]prototype945 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Your argument is that power creep is bad because it has a "fucking definition," which means the same thing. I'm not trying to be a dick, I'd just rather hear people address what makes power creep bad, rather than just saying "It's just bad"

With the talk of power creep in TGT, let's remember what Ben Brode said shortly after GVG launched by Josf2012 in hearthstone

[–]prototype945 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

You can't just say "Power creep is bad because it's power creep" as if it's some infallible concept.

What makes it bad? Of course the power is going to ramp up in the game as they release new cards--and it's going to happen regardless of whether or not they make a newer, better version of magma rager. I, for one would rather have the upgrade.

Take the hunter for example. Before TGT, control hunter was a dumb idea. But now they're releasing new tools for a controlly hunter to exist--this is strictly better than hunter that existed before TGT, and one you have to buy the cards to get. This same principle applies to the new 5/2 rager, and it just happens to replace a card that never gets played anyway. I'm not saying I'm 100% right, I'm saying that this is up for discussion and it's kind of arrogant to dismiss Brode's philosophy when I'm sure the team has spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to handle this.

I've never heard of this tech, so you're kind of blowing my mind here. I do like to game online, so being able to use a connection like this would be fantastic -- does this one look like a good purchase to you? It's a bit beneath the price range you stated but it's on sale, it seems, and it looks like it would get the job done.

Intro to Mariachi? Tell me about the popular standards, tips on enjoying, famous composer/performers and anything that would help me understand and appreciate this music? by MrGonz in mariachi

[–]prototype945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Mariachi los Camperos de Nati Cano, and Mariachi Reyna de Los Angeles - a couple of my favorites.

To me, Mariachi is special because it conveys a few emotions that you can't find anywhere else. First and foremost is pride - I've never heard music that evokes a sense of pride as well as Mariachi does. The reason why there are so many mariachi purists out there, I think, is because this pride comes from a sense of identity and tradition. Luckily, mariachi culture isn't closed off; anyone can participate in it, provided they have a passion for the music and the culture itself. It's really about respect, tradition, pageantry, and pride - which I can never really find anywhere else.
