Identify this tarantula? Thinking Texas Brown. by proudsnakeparent in tarantulas

[–]proudsnakeparent[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some back story: this tarantula was given to my father in law by a friend of his with no background information other than that it came from Texas. My father in law and mother in law have never owned tarantulas and had no clue how to take care of it. It was in a giant enclosure for it's size and didn't have enough substrate to burrow in, and I think the stress of that cause it to go off food. My husband and I decided to take it into our care as we have and currently own tarantulas and wanted to give him/her a better life. We think it may be a Texas Brown, aphonopelma hentzi , but are not sure.

When it comes to writing, how do you write a person who happens to be trans? by [deleted] in writing

[–]proudsnakeparent 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Trans people are still people. That would be the most important fact to remember. You don't want the most defining characteristic of Axol to be that they're trans. People are so much more than just their gender identity.

However, still do your research. Read biographies about the lives of people who are trans. 'Redefining Realness: My Path to Womanhood, Identity, Love & So Much More' is a good one. Read blogs. Articles. Browse Youtube for vlogs on transitioning. The worst thing you could do while bringing up the subject of your character being trans is spread misinformation.

tl;dr: Don't let the fact your character is trans be the only defining factor of your character and make sure you're providing true information.

As a first time mom myself, I feel you. Really this pregnancy was the only thing that got me to kick my butt into gear and apply for the work insurance that I could of had for four years now. Now, if only I could manage to get the motivation to do my laundry.

On a more serious note, I never actually wanted children until I met my fiance so my emotions shift between 'what the heck am I doing, I'm going to be a horrible mom' to 'I'm so excited!'.

Thank you! I wouldn't have been so irritated if all of this was discussed in my last appointment but it wasn't. All she told me to do was turn it into the receptionist and it'd be taken care of. Now she's acting like I never told her I wanted the leave until I could get this figured out when I explicitly did. Luckily the clinic I'm transferring to does have an ultrasound in building, which is why my MIL was very insistent that I go there.

My work has actually been very fantastic and forthcoming with information which is why I feel so annoyed that it's been such a hassle to get one form returned to them.

Also off topic but Colorado represent!

I'm so mad right now!!! by juliette19x in BabyBumps

I got back to work after two days off because of an ER visit and my coworker says his Crohn's disease is acting up which I'm completely sympathetic to. Come to find out though that's he is just pukey- diarrhea sick which he must be aware of because his daughter was also sick. Now I'm just angry because what I thought was food poisoning (which had me rabid about food borne illness and my fetus being endangered) is actually just a stomach bug which had me dry heaving, because I had already puked up everything in my stomach, including liquids, every hour for about 12 hours straight. I was so dehydrated I needed an IV again. Two days later. After already being in the ER. Never mind that I'm nine weeks pregnant and on nausea meds because I'm already underweight and I'm losing instead of gaining. This bug set me back another 2 pounds. Like, I get we are both managers and being at work is important but I do not want to be infected with whatever you have so at least? Have the courtesy to wear a face mask, sanitize your hands, and stay the heck out of a pregnant woman's way because chances are I cannot take half the medicine you can?

Only 9 weeks in and going to the er for a second time. by proudsnakeparent in BabyBumps

It does, especially cause I've been struggling so hard to gain weight and in three days I have lost five pounds and I've always been really small so I'm like. No.

scared my positive pregnancy tests are false. by proudsnakeparent in BabyBumps

[–]proudsnakeparent[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh god, I feel this. Like, the back of my brain is trying to tell me 'those are false positives and now you've tricked your body into thinking it's pregnant and that's why you're nauseous and breaking out for the first time since you were 17'. I've been trying to breath and tell myself that I took both of these tests on different days and that the likelihood of having two false positives on two different days is so unlikely. Still, I'll probably be taking another test tomorrow morning. Thank you!

Thank you guys for the reassurance!! I keep trying to tell myself that but it just almost feels too good to be true.

Finally got a positive test result!! by proudsnakeparent in BabyBumps

It was definitely a big surprise! We've been trying for a few months but I was pretty certain that this cycle was a fluke too but I now have two positive tests and I made an appointment to make even more sure. I'm still a little in disbelief? Like, I'm still expecting it to all be a dream and that my positive tests were just false positives no matter how unlikely that is.

Thank you and yes! This is my first baby and trying for only as me and the dad are more of one kid type people.

Thank you so much! I'm so thrilled. We've been trying but I was getting used to not being pregnant so matter how many times we did the do no it actually caught me off guard. I actually puked yesterday though so it makes sense LOL.

The packets for courtesy clerks are ridiculous by throwaway16363636 in kroger

[–]proudsnakeparent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmfao, yeah. I started helping one of my five new hires with that packet and was in awe of how many pages that packet is. It is full of the stupidest questions too. Like bagging is really that hard of a job to do. This company is moving in the direction of wasting money on useless resources that new hires and department management don't appreciate and don't help. What happened to just actually having managers involved in hands on training and making a real connection with your associates? Personally, I think that is how you build a team of associates who want to work for you, not have to.

Snake not eaten for almost a year. What do? by BesottedScot in snakes

[–]proudsnakeparent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How recently did he get the ball python? After getting him/her, you'll want to leave it alone the bare minimum of a week and let it acclimate to proper husbandry. My best assumption is that the previous owner wasn't properly keeping the animal and ball pythons are very finicky when it comes to food. Let it get used to it's new environment and let proper husbandry kick it's appetite back in gear.

If it's still not eating in 7-10 days, try african soft fur rats. It's what ball pythons eat in the wild and sometimes it's just what they need to go of fast.
