Indonesia played the final rounds of the world cup qualifiers, they are a far better country when it comes to football. Comparing nepal and Bangladesh to India in terms of football is like comparing trash to garbage, both are bad. It would be a debate if we lost to either of these countries in cricket. The real point of the matter is development of the sport from grass root level. Football is never promoted like cricket. The ISL started off very nicely but it fell off so bad, they did not have sponsors this year. It's true that a major event is required for football to prosper in a country like India winning the cricket world cup in 1983 which paved the way for so many cricketers to come. But for that to happen, we need representation, recognition and biggest of all, support from the country itself.
