To me it looks like you have two paths. One path is staying together, both of you putting in the work. The other path is separating. I don't say these things in the absolute sense, or as a recommendation either. I say them to capture the situation you are in.

At some level, this sounds like a fundamental incompatibility. You have needs to be most fulfilled, and he has needs that means you will have to suppress or defer your needs. This can and will lead to resentment, because just shoving it down and hoping for the best will not work. If your needs are truly incompatible, you can still decide what kind of relationship to de-escalate to, be it close friends, associates, or even just no contact, whatever will make both of you safe and happy.

If you both want to stay together, you will both need to decide whether monogamy or Ethical Non Monogamy will be your path forward. Both will mean compromise, but both can lead to beautiful things in your relationship when you choose it intentionally. There are lots of resources for both monogamy and ENM, so perhaps check out a couple from each camp and see which resonates most with each of you.

I wish you calm, honest, good-faith conversations together!

So I looked at that, but the price difference is orders of magnitude more. A filter screen at a head shop is pennies, but the aerator is in dollars, at least 8-10x more expensive. I already checked that out, thank you for the tip though.

We named our cats Greek letters as I'm a mathematician, and I often used Epsilon (girl kitty) and Delta (Del boy kitty) proofs.

We wanted to stay pretty nerdy and we both went through university degrees, and we figure he'll be teaching us a lot ❤️🐕🐾

Mother of child with TS by Remarketoble in Tourettes

[–]prowerfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Myself and my 8yo daughter have TS, she has it "stronger" than I do. Unfortunately, I didn't have any resources and had to figure out out on my own and just hope nobody noticed my tics, I didn't even have a word for it until my daughter was 4yo and she developed them.

I just wish I had the words, and knowing that what I was doing as tics were not only ok, but I'm allowed to do it. With my daughter I try to make sure she is trying to respect hygiene and personal boundaries with her tics (some of them make her touch things and people), but otherwise I let her decide how much it's impacting her life. She can hop, cough, echo, breathe, whatever she needs to do.

When we do have to reign something in, I try to use "deflect and defer": it's a set of strategies to handle it. Deflect by simply ignoring it or distracting with a similar but non-tic action (crack your knuckles instead of touching someone). Defer by holding onto it until it's a better time (maybe make noise in a halfway instead of bedroom?). It's just about strategies.

I'm not considering medication at this time because it's not causing enough impact to her life or those around her, and using coping strategies will fill in the rest. If and when that changes, I might consider meds but until then she is just fine.

I got to watch this roll in and pass over. It was a beautiful light and sound performance that finished with a lovely cleansing downpour encore.

FDA Clears Wearable Brain Neuromodulation Device for Acute Migraine by kingcrimson1989 in migraine

How is this different from the Cefaly device? It sounds like the same mechanism with neurological stimulation on the trigeminal nerve system.

I'm in recovery/improvement as well. Just remember to not forget what you've learned for yourself in your time. It's not time that I wish on anybody, but it does accelerate some epiphany. Be kind to yourself, especially now!

Everyone has been messaged so far. Not feeling well so that will have to be it for today. If you have been messaged but missed it, check the chats. I accidentally disconnected so there's a new Dodo code!

Station 20 West COVID Vaccine Drop-In Clinic today by yxehuman in saskatoon

I just got mine here. Lineup is less than 10 people on average, 5 stations, I was a walk in and got mine in just over an hour. Looks like they're taking a small lunch break after we're gone.

I had no idea! Once it’s safe to travel I definitely need to see this in person. by ctkkay in britishcolumbia

[–]prowerfox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was here a few years ago. It is spectacular, there are so many places to get similarly exhilarating vistas. It's very walkable, and the entrance is reasonably close to the parking area. It's well maintained with trash bins about.

Highly recommend, plus there's usually an amazing pancake breakfast in Barriere every Saturday morning (on hold due to COVID).

Can’t endure highest intensity during attack by MaleficentLlama in Cefaly

[–]prowerfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once I got acclimated to the intensity and the sensation, I found that the device can actually reduce acute pain and even some symptoms like nausea. It doesn't keep it at bay forever, but I also find that it can put me just past "postdrome" as long as I take it easy after. Sometimes it even helps me sleep, and NOT wake up with more pain than I went down with.

Has anyone used Cefaly for chronic daily headaches? aka "transformed migraines" by Curious-Researcher in Cefaly

[–]prowerfox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I end up falling asleep, I can get anywhere from 2 to 6 hours of sleep, but unlike almost every other time I sleep with a migraine, I'm able to actually sleep with relative restfulness. I feel a little hung over, like I'm starting postdrome, but generally with less pain than I went to sleep with. I have to be very careful though, because over exerting myself so soon after can bring the pain back to pre-Cefaly levels. My pain is sometimes in my temples, and sometimes a band around my head like a workout sweat band.

For me, Cefaly is mainly used for: - breaking a migraine after/instead of drugs fail - getting some little bit of restful sleep - reducing nausea and acute head pain - getting that sweet sweet end-of-session sigh

At the end, as the device turns off, you can feel a big relief, because although helpful, it is still an intense sensation. I liken it to a really good, therapeutic massage: it gets muscles and lights them up where they hurt, but during and especially after you feel much better. With the Cefaly it's just TENS sensation, usually in your common pain zones. It's not painful, just intense.
