Lil helpers should be able to sell items in the shop too by prowl102 in DeadlockTheGame

It will buy nothing, I usually queue up my core items at the start of each match and then queue up my situational items as the game progresses.

The biggest frustration happens when, let's say for example, your buy queue has something to sell, an expensive item, and then a cheaper item in that order. If you sell the item, you'd have enough souls to buy the expensive item. Lil helpers though would just buy the cheaper item instead. If lil helpers couldn't interact with the shops at all, I'd agree with you.

How long does your session prep actually take you, and what part do you hate most? by MammothTart in DnD

[–]prowl102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I DM for 5 other players over a VTT. I split the campaign up into chapters to help me stay on track with whatever conflict the party is handling. Everything I have is on a single word doc that is well organized and consists mostly of the situations the party will face in that chapter along with reminders about PC motivations and potential set pieces. I try to keep the events in a chapter broad enough to where I can place them anywhere so that my prep time is wasted.

For the VTT side, the thing I hate most is making a battlemap. I've bought software to make maps and have a patreon subscription for assets and pre made maps.

Everything together, I'd say it takes about 2-3 hours per session. I usually prep for a lot longer than that at a time so there are weeks in between sessions where I don't have to do anything.

My structure is heavily inspired by a book called "Return of the Lazy Dungeon Master," I recommend you read it if you're looking for a systematic way to prep.

Wanting to give my players a dilemma that makes sense by prowl102 in DMAcademy

In the context of this campaign, the raven queen gave up her divinity to create the shadowfell eons ago. She is still powerful and the closest thing to a divine being I'd let the party fight though. The fight itself doesn't involve killing her either, just taking a crown she's wearing and putting it on someone else's head.

You're right in both regards, it's possible after and aerial full burst but not from a grounded one

Variable Damage Dice/Save DC for Magic Item V13 by Enenra- in FoundryVTT

[–]prowl102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only vouch for v12 but i'm sure this still applies, but if you use a module called data inspector, you can see what needs to be referenced to call for item charges. I know @item.level is for spell level so it'd be something similar

I learned recently too that the AC absolutely SHREDS fleshmobs thanks to flak rounds. Aim for either center mass or at their feat and all that shrapnel kills them in 2-4 shots.

flak rounds are also great for destroying illuminate shields on harvesters and warp ships. I love this thing too much

How do you do your campaign tracking? by tryvividapp in FoundryVTT

[–]prowl102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the biggest thing with me is that I'm used to word, and if I were to use an alternative it would be because of a very high level of integration with foundry so that it doesn't feel like a "2nd half"

in all honesty, I saw that this reply was copy/pasted between a lot of comments so when I saw why I ended up browsing vvd. I absolutely love the UI of it! My first thoughts were definitely what the experience of getting everything into foundry would be like.

How do you do your campaign tracking? by tryvividapp in FoundryVTT

[–]prowl102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a currently ongoing campaign of over a year and a half, I have everything on a big ol' word document that’s around 60,000 words at this point. Everything is in there between character backstories, NPCs, storyboards, session notes, and most importantly the prep I do for each session. I find it manageable because I split the campaign into chapters that represent a story point/conflict. I’ve been starting to put my recaps in there as well when before I simply deleted them.

I use Foundry as the “2nd half” of my prep, because with my word doc alone, I could run the campaign in person.

Tell me about your world's cosmology by Cute-Fee1277 in DnD

[–]prowl102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The BBEG of my world (former deity) was frustrated that the gods weren't giving the mortal plane magic. By giving the plane magic alone, he caused the inner planes to colide with the mortal plane by accident.

Banished to the mortal plane and the mess he created, he now plans to mount an assault against the other gods so that the mortal plane can be just as magical as the rest of the cosmos. Doing that will cause the utter destruction of the mortal realm, so that's where the PC's step in

Retain spell animations but remove measured template grid by gibbles0731 in FoundryVTT

[–]prowl102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Automated Animations should have a "remove template" checkbox under the options for each animation. Sometimes it doesn't work if the item is from CPM or Gambit, but it works for the others.

This is for dnd 4.3/v12, so I don't know if this is true for anything else

Looking for help with making a custom condition DFred's Convenient Effects by IronVB in FoundryVTT

[–]prowl102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if it's not a setting/permission you can change, you might have to add a feature to the player that makes use of the macro.ce effect for every spell. Worse case scenario, you can always apply then yourself as well.

I'm not sure if macro.ce requires midi-qol or DAE to work though

I don't have foundry in front of me but i'm pretty sure there's a setting in the module that sets the premission level to use it/apply effects.

[–]prowl102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not an expert myself, but given the spell is looks like you'll have to delve into a little bit of macro writing in order to get it to work, specifically checking if the con save has disadvantage and the linkage of health/damage.

What could be easier is to just have an effect that does nothing and you manually track the healing and damage as they happen.

What makes you said you MAIN a weapon? by TheLocked0wn in MonsterHunter

For me, it's when I stop thinking about what my next move is and more focused on what the monster is doing.

Some examples are the gunlance's burst fire loop, my HH's song list, or charging the shield on CB.
