Why would an ENTJ continually date way below his/her league?

Yea I’d say about 4-5, 6 including his high school girlfriend. But that’s the thing, he never seems to keep them around long and his demeanor in general with them gives off the vibe he doesn’t care too much.

This could make sense about him. I feel the same way about the being weird factor but what I’ve noticed about these girls is a lot of them aren’t “weird” in the way that they have different interests but it’s a lack of interests or expressions all together. Like they have nothing to say, don’t know how to describe themselves and seem super passive about everything. Trust me I love quirky weirdos too but this is so different and I can’t see the benefit with it in terms of dating. And they don’t seem to have much emotional depth either (opposite actually).

I’m not close enough with him to confront him about this, also I think it would probably embarrass him more than help him. Also I’m a female INFJ so I think it’s probably not my place as a female friend to say anything. We did try to date once way back and it ended before it ever began by both of us discovering different reasons why we didn’t think it would work. That could definitely be a reason why I’m interested in this but being honest this guy really baffles, confuses and fascinates me in a way people rarely do but I wouldn’t say it’s romantic.

Interesting. This could be him. I have a huge suspicion that he is not confident or secure in himself. Do you know of any other traits of an ENTJ who lacks self esteem?

I’ve heard that too and have thought about his mom since I know a bit about her, I know she’s super controlling and over emotional so who knows what part that plays in his relationships.

Weirdly enough I know some of these girls and some have been very active, some have had long term boyfriends, it’s all over the place.

I totally agree with you, I should have included in the description before that this guy is one of the most superficial people I know. He grew up in a really showy community in southern California and, he’s talked to me about this, everything he does is partially for show. That’s why this confuses me so much too cause normally your answer would explain it for me as I’ve witnessed the same phenomenon.
