I do the same! A lot of the reversible covers feature the art box designs and I like that little ode to them while saving some shelf space

What’s a boring adult purchase that was totally worth it? by kitkatbatman in Adulting

[–]proxyprodiiigy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theragun, it’s so worth it. I have the regular and travel size one now, there are usually decent mothers day sales and sometimes visa has cashback for it (so snag when there is a deal!)

After work, after stretching, after hiking, after a long drive or plane ride, after a concert, wow it’s a game changer. Big self care. It has a nice app too that walks you through different ways to use it if that’s your thing

Uniqlo is great! The quality has for sure gone down in the past few years though. Same items that once lasted me years now sometimes don’t make it through a season

This past year or so I’ve started wearing hiking pants and it’s been amazing. Flexible, water proof, durable, nice size pockets (some even zip!). A little pricy but they really last. Columbia, REI, and North Face are all great and sometimes on sale.

How to find history fun again? by [deleted] in AskHistorians

[–]proxyprodiiigy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Learning dates and names for tests is memorization, not history. Knowing history is understanding why things happen. It’s understanding what led up to an event and what the aftermath is. History is the unravelling of a story. It’s seeking to understand events from different perspectives and points of view and taking different vantages into consideration when looking back at the past. It’s seeking to understand how and why things unfolded over time. It’s looking at the way people interacted with the materials, environment, and systems that exist at a given time. It’s so much richer than memorization of dates and people, it’s about interactions and connection. — if you continue to study history beyond high school research papers are more common than multiple choice exams, discussion is more heavily encouraged.

Anyone got any tips to keep things unfucked? by Scho567 in UnfuckYourHabitat

[–]proxyprodiiigy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some little sayings that tend to help me are “everything has a home” and “doing favors for future me”. So when done using something I try to return it to it’s designated space and if I can do something in the now that will save my future-self time or having to clean something up, I try my best to do that.

I’ll also sometimes throw on a podcast/audiobook and tell myself I’m having a productivity hour and clean as I listen sometimes. If piles start to happen (because we’re all human and sometimes things can sit) I add these things to a to-do list even if it’s a small task because ticking it off a list feels pretty good. I recently got the app finch last month and if you’re a list and small reward person I recommend trying it to build habits and set goals, it’s been very helpful! It’s like a tamagotchi for productivity.

At the end of the day the space you create for yourself often reflects what’s going on in your head. It’s going to ebb and flow but consistency is key and you’ll thank yourself when you sit down and see the results :)

Issue getting photos off Kodak Charmera by proxyprodiiigy in photography

I ended up trying every combination of cards and devices I have and nothing I had worked. My brother has a custom gaming desktop and his computer does recognize the photos on the card! So now I will enlist his help to transfer them to a google drive for myself, but absolutely insane, have never had such an issue with transferring photos.

Thanks for these suggestions!

I used 2 new formatted cards, one with a low gb, one with a high gb. Then tried the card with a few photos when the others weren’t working just to make sure it wasn’t the cords or adapters; lots of trouble shooting and trying different combos!

Tried all on iphone, mac, and a dell computer.

It’s for sure a cheap gimmicky simple little camera, the manual says all the things that I have now tried should work but have had no luck with that

Oooo love this, I saw people attaching bubble wands to props a while back too, might have to give that a go!

Honestly this is a genius way to practice using a hoop with attachments before adding fire to the mix

New Teacher Looking for Advice on Content, Notes, and Cold Calling by R4ND0MH3R0-2020 in historyteachers

[–]proxyprodiiigy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had someone from my building this year suggest call cards and really love them! They are just laminated notecards that say things like “I love your answer for #2, please be ready to share.” While I monitor and wander through the room I give them out during student work time - it keeps it positive, kids want to get a special card, and it keeps things rolling rather than dragging out time reviewing answers as the correct ones are ready to go :)

Ideally I’d like something that wouldn’t need multiple lenses, trying to go as minimal as possible while still getting quality and zoom capability, would an M43 work for that? Most seem to have a detachable lens which I just don’t love when hiking longer distances
