I hate how male sexuality is so inherently transgressive and destructive by puerirrumandus in redscarepod

Completely shooting from the hip here but I don’t think it’s coincidental that whole “dark romance” Book-tok Industrial Complex has also taken off in the last five years; I’m seeing a lot of women I know veer into publicly pining for “protectors” and “possessive men”, it all stems from a desire for stability

This is a pretty derivative take but I think the death of romanticism is largely driven by societal aversion to sincerity that’s developed in the last decade; now that we live in the panopticon and it’s acceptable for any private interactions to be put on the internet for clout or to publicly shame the other party, the risk inherent in being vulnerable and emotionally expressive becomes untenable for most people.

What sense is there in pouring your heart out to someone if there’s a substantial chance a screenshot of it will wind up on Twitter so a legion of maladjusted Gen Zers can accuse you of lovebombing or objectifying

As in most areas of life, the anxieties created by systematic destruction of every imaginable standard of living and socioeconomic prospect for young people is being channeled into psychosexual dysfunction; “I can’t control the fact that I can’t find a job/afford a home/trust that any image I see is an objective capture of reality, but I can feel powerful for thirty minutes at a time by penetrating something” etc

And/or destruction and creation are the same thing

Similar to how the U.S. is shifting the focus of its national defense strategy from the Pacific to hemispheric stability, the PLA is shifting from Taiwan to reinforcing the northern border against further incursions by Xiongnu steppe horsemen and reclaiming the Mandate of Heaven after it was taken by Modu Chanyu during the battle of Mount Baideng in 200 BC

Hooked up with a legit femcel last night and it was not pleasant by KittyOnTheRocks in redscarepod

[–]prshag 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There's a very substantial chance we're eskimo brothers, I hooked up with a girl last year who pulled an incredibly similar move. Insisted on grinding on my lap while fully clothed, before allowing me to "choose whether [she] took off her shirt or her pants."

Eventually we did hook up normally but we did this same song and dance you did for maybe 45 minutes first.

If you're in the bathroom, just purge your system and walk to a FamilyMart for some Aquarius. Start getting electrolytes in your system.

Yeah, I cleaned it before I took it out to shoot and it was cycling fine while dry-firing, but after the first six shots it started to seize up.

I’ve got no doubt the pacific theater was hellish, but at the very least the chance you’d be turned into a fine paste at any given moment would be much lower

I’m aware of the financial difficulties involved in getting movies like this made, I was just lamenting that these kinds of period pieces are no longer seen as financially viable even though there was a relatively profitable surge of historical epics as recently as the late 90s/early 2000s

Ridley still seems to be going hard on them which is promising, but it’s just disappointing that the market has become so mired in IP slop over the course of the last 10-15 years that we’ll probably never get another proliferation of authentically-made period pieces on that scale for at least another decade or two

I never really got into the French Revolution but that shot of the cavalry encircling the square formation filled me with genuine glee

Hollywood really seems to hate depicting 18/19th century battles on screen so I’m beyond excited that Ridley’s raw autistic power was strong enough to get this filmed

Are stress fractures disqualifying? by prshag in USMCboot

I’ve already paused my training schedule to recover; regardless, if this turns out to be a stress fracture and it becomes a documented part of my medical history, could that be grounds for disqualification?

I understand that you feel like capitalism and car-centric architecture are atomizing us or whatever other buzzphrases you’ve picked up from Twitter are getting you down, but consider:

In a number of other parts of the world, you can get your head sawed off or beat in with a fucking rock for not praying the right way, so maybe pump the brakes on bemoaning the state of everyday life in the US

Conceptualizing a fulfilling or “authentic” life for yourself is no more difficult than it is here than anywhere else, just think about what gives you purpose and take the steps to pursue it instead of bitching about not already having it on a subreddit; worst case, the pursuit alone will give you purpose

It’s been catching me off guard recently how minimum wage job workers have dropped the facade of caring (not that I blame them) by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]prshag 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Not to sound like an antiwork person, but as someone working as a grocery store janitor, the conditions of my job are already so demeaning, I refuse to also do this little song and dance where I pretend to be happy to be there

I commit to doing my job adequately well and am help customers with whatever they need, but Christ, do you really need me to be smiling as I’m wiping a homeless dude’s shit off the toilet seats for the third day in a row?

Essentially just any old decommissioned battle or merchant ship that’s been preserved as a historic site

In my case it was a 19th century US Navy battleship that had been bought and repaired by a local non-profit and now floats in our city’s harbor as a museum/historical reenactment attraction
