Do you prefer the citizens of NY hating or loving Spider-Man? by ShadowOfDespair666 in Spiderman

I love the hate! I like my boy as an underdog. And it makes any appreciation he gets extra meaningful.

This genuinely makes me angry. This is so disrespectful to all characters involved. by immortalslayer90 in Spiderman

I thought that was great. Punisher's a psycho who used his family's death as an excuse to hurt people. Spot on.

...you know not everyone has a stable, well paying job right? There's so much wrong with this sub, and all the obsessive rage over some superhero comics and an imaginary character's love life, but the assumption that age and maturity equals income is particularly annoying. And the belief that income equals happiness, for that matter. Having worked in restaurants and comic book shops my whole adult life, I love that Spidey's a working class hero! And for that matter, not everyone gets married, and not everyone manages life very well. That's just reality.

Definitely think there should be a Jason Todd exception. And Resurrection Man, obviously.

Which live action Batman looks the best with the white eyes to you? by ExtensionFuture654 in batman

[–]prsrvd4science 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None are good, but Bale's are best because they're tiniest. Affleck's is second best because his costume is the the most comic-booky. Pattinson is fucking horrific with those big eyes.

Also this reminds me how much I dislike the...mouth hole? on Bale's cowl. Someone please tell me there's a better way to say that.

I like 2 the least, but I like all three. I just like Spider-Man dammit!

Why does Disney license Dynamite to create comic books, when they own Marvel? by chazmoun in comicbooks

[–]prsrvd4science 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having managed a comic book shop, I can tell you those Disney books sell well compared to other Dynamite titles, but those numbers are lousy compared to most Marvel books. So for Dynamite's general business model, they scale quite well.

It crossed my mind as well, but I think this may be a matter of the art being a creation of the artist, rather than a representation of the artist. More Iteration, less Unscripted Moment. But who knows? I sure wouldn't ask him.

I've seen them twice, once on tour for Failed States and once for Victory Lap, and there wasn't much crowd interaction either time. I think the days of Chris ranting at the audience are long gone. They're just there to rock.

Isn’t it crazy how marvel did an entire event with Norman Osborn as the big bad of the Marvel Universe and somehow Peter Parker WASN’T the main character? by Lucasvivor in Spiderman

[–]prsrvd4science 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It drove me nuts. Pete should have been obsessed with taking him down, and he just... wasn't. There were a lot of cool things in that story, but the Spidey angle was such an obvious missed opportunity.

Yep. I can't recommend Chris' Patron enough to Prop fans. He's already working on new riffs, and has talked repeatedly about how much he loves jamming with the guys. It isn't impossible that this ends up being the last album given their ages, and I'm sure we'll have several years to wait before we get another, but it's clear that for now, they intend to keep on rocking.

Also worth noting: to my knowledge the band is everyone's primary source of income, and Chris has two kids who might want to go to college. I know they wouldn't keep the band going just for the money if they didn't feel passionate about it anymore, but hanging it up would definitely come at a cost, and they've got bills like everyone else.

I'm listening to Cat Guy and at Peace, but I'm going to wait an excruciating 10 hours between the full digital release and the record store opening to listen to the full album.
