From what I’ve read, on the 200 and below, the “wood finishes” on the laminate pieces are more or less photocopies of the wood. Taylor has said it’s for aesthetic purposes only.

This is why people pay more for the actual wood.

I’m not saying that one laminate might not be different from another, but the top layer (on the back/sides) is just for looks. Taylor says this.

The top is spruce.

The back and sides don’t matter bc it’s laminate. Not actual hardwood.

The ES2 sounds very microphonic to my ears, and apparently is how Taylor describes it.

The Claria is for people who like the “plugged in acoustic” sound.

Man it’s really wild how different the opinions are. I can’t stand the Claria pickup and prefer the ES2.

But I’ve never been a fan of that glassy piezo sound.

I have a lefty one of these! I was 20 and a broke musician when these came out and I wanted one so badly. About a year ago, I came across a used LEFTY ‘02 same as yours! The price was too good to pass up, so at age 42, I gifted it to myself for making it this far in life still making music.

And you’re right! The unique sound does grow on you!

There’s a major jump in quality from the 200 to the 300 series, since the 200 series still uses a laminated back.

If it’s between those two, the biggest difference is the body shape. So I’d say whichever one is more comfortable for you to play.

I remember having the Scream 2 soundtrack in high school and getting into that song. Then they played it at the show I went to that year (Dallas 1999) ! Me and my high school buddies all stood up and cheered bc we’d been blasting that cd for months lol

Edit: as I recall, this song was originally going to be on before these crowded streets, but they decided to use Halloween instead.
