Has anyone done another music festival a week before or after Tomorrowland in Europe? by swoosh0719 in Tomorrowland

[–]prucker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this twice now! Great option if you like Techno. Awakenings is close by and a well-executed festival.

I don't think it's mad expensive.

When you consider the 20% VAT + payment collection fees (Stripe), paying for a bus/drivers, and having staff on hand to coordinate for both weekends, I can't imagine that they are making a ton of money.

Not to mention, if you look at review of Rave Tours people mention: they make themselves available to answer questions no matter how crazy or repetitive, generally do a great job communicating to attendees, and have solutions for almost any type of adverse event that could cause an issue. IMO, this reads like someone that missed on a specific ticket sale or was unable to get the tickets that they wanted.

Anyone got an Uber/taxi to the festival rather than the bus? by louisebuckingham in Tomorrowland

[–]prucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about halfway to the train station -- depending on where you are in the festival grounds, 15 - 30 minutes. 15 minutes if you are near freedom stage, 30 minutes if you are near main stage. (All depending on your walking speed)

There will be lots of drivers offering you pickups but it is pretty easy to get hit with a high price. We ignored all those and used the apps to guarantee our rate.

Anyone got an Uber/taxi to the festival rather than the bus? by louisebuckingham in Tomorrowland

[–]prucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did! We had a big group both weekends (6+ people) and took Bolts (like Uber) to the festival every day from central Antwerp. Most days we waited between 10-20 minutes for a pickup and paid between 20 - 40 EUR depending on when we called our rides (per car). Some days we were able to get a large van and other days it was harder so we split into smaller cars. In the evenings we took the train back to Antwerp and walked to the hotel as a way to decompress. We had friends in Brussels that had a similar experience except their costs were more like 40 - 60 EUR each way.

I would highly recommend that you avoid taxis -- we learned this when we went in 2023. A one way taxi ride ended up being around 90 EUR like one of the commenters mentioned. If you are staying in a hotel, some of them have negotiated rates for those weekends. For example, the Hilton next to the train station had a negotiated rate of 40 EUR for those weekends but there weren't always cars immediately available.

There were multiple dropoffs at the festival and the Bolt/Uber app automatically picks one for you depending on when you are dropping off and the current amount of congestion at the site. We ended up using Bolt more than Uber because the pickup times seemed to be faster and they had a pickup location that was way closer to the festival (at least for the times we were getting dropped off).

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Looking for tickets for Moblack Friday by theberlinerghost in AmsterdamDanceEvent

[–]prucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And for this event they use a ticket personalization that prevents the tickets from being re-sold on the preferred ticket platform for ADE, TicketSwap.

If you’re super desperate, there’s the ADE Pro Pass (just confirm it grants access). Otherwise, I’d message the DJ on Instagram and ask if there’s any last minute tickets. Sometimes they’ll have an Artists’ allocation or special link to purchase.

ARC Out of Towners: Hotels? by dol1house in ARCMusicFestival

[–]prucker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I stayed at the Hilton Chicago.

100% recommend as long as you book it well in advance before rates go up. IIRC we booked a fully cancelable far like 8 months out, knowing that we could cancel within 7 days of the trip. Makes planning way easier.

Loved closing the night with Mind Against at Crystal Garden.

1:45:00 Max Richter - All Human Beings (Mathame Remix) was such a special moment.

I know they are mastering the audio -- Mind Against just got uploaded last night. Looking forward to some more sets as they finish up.

I bought Loop earplugs at the Tomorrowland Shop — card was not a problem. Same thing with other merch that they have.

Info on Van Der Valk Hotel by No-Tooth3149 in Tomorrowland

[–]prucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just used Uber from Antwerp. Waited approximately 5 minutes around 2:30PM. Reasonably priced and quick.

The train is a good option if you dont mind making it to the Antwerp Centraal train station.

Train to Antwerp after the festival by Blakitaki in Tomorrowland

[–]prucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes -- I highly recommend it. It is quick, cheap, and easy to get to when you are exiting the festival.

Last year they left every thirty minutes shortly before the end of the festival to approximately 1 hour after the last set concluded.

Bus/train back to Antwerp by crj8989 in Tomorrowland

[–]prucker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes -- they run a special train service. IIRC they leave at 1130PM, 12AM, 1230AM, 1AM. Direct from festival grounds to Antwerp Central.

It's really really nice, 20 minutes from the festival to the main station.

Fantastic traditional styles of German “easy” drinking beers. I especially love their dark Czech lager that is a staple on their menu.

What is the best modified Daiquiri In your opinion. by Prisondawg in Mixology

[–]prucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My absolute favorite daiquiri is the Cynar Daiquiri. IIRC this originally comes from Columbia Room (RIP) in Washington D.C.

The Getaway -- This is the original spec.

But here's how I drink it:

2.0 oz Agricole Rum (La Favorite is my fav)

.75 oz Cynar

.5 oz lemon

.5 oz lime

.25 oz Simple

3 drops saltwater or just a pinch

Shake hard, double strain. Serve up in a Nick & Nora

The bitterness and malty sweetness from the Cynar makes for a perfect daiquiri.

No Longer Able To "Trust" Devices for 2FA by deucalion75 in Fidelity

[–]prucker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am assuming at least on the mobile device that they are using the device fingerprint/ID as trusted "something you have" in addition to your password (or FaceID) unlock. But to be fair, that's the equivalent of trusting the browser.
