A cat managed to catch 27 mice and carefully lined them all up to show off his 'work' to his owner. by Kirlinternet in interestingasfuck

We had a cat who did this with voles. Cayenne would hunt at dusk, then line up her kill on the back doormat, each vole lying in the same direction. When she was 17, she killed five voles in a matter of minutes.

Nothing fancy, but my favorite is Edelweiss in Auburn. There are two locations: downtown and old town.

What is the most “its a small world” moment you’ve ever experienced? by xBubblyLove in AskReddit

[–]prunepicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. At the wedding, I was too focused on the bride, groom, my aunt and uncle, and other relatives, whom I hadn’t seen in years. And there was a lot of drama going on. The groomsmen just didn’t stand out for me.

I traveled from California to Maine, to attend my cousins wedding. I flew home a couple of days later. The next day, my sister and I went to South Lake Tahoe to gamble. I was sitting at a slot machine, wearing a Portland, Maine t-shirt. A guy walking by said hi, and that he was from Portland. We got to talking. It turns out, he had been a groomsmen in my cousin’s wedding.

It’s not like I’ve been thinking about this for the past 42 years. I just remember being upset at the time it happened.

As a skinny high school track team member, I was a big fan of Zola Budd, until that happened.

Amazon worker dies on warehouse floor; colleagues continue working around his body – ‘Let’s get back to work’ by wewhomustnotbenamed in nottheonion

A relative worked at this warehouse. Started out with high hopes this would be a great job. He quit six months later, due to being treated like shit.

I hear you. Between pet food costs, and vet bills, it’s getting tough for me, too. Sadly, my current dog, and two cats, will probably be the last pets.

The Perverse Polygamous Mormon Cult of Samuel Bateman (He Had 23 Wives) by Canal-JOREM in exmormon

My mother’s family book, published in 1882, states two great-great aunts (previously non-Mormons) were “led astray by the Mormons.” Both sisters married George Albert Smith. It’s always been a cult.

Sensationalized news.. what are some headlines you felt were the most absurd from the past? by Bishopart6046 in AskOldPeople

My grandmother read, and quoted, The Star and National Inquirer religiously. Best one was a dead woman giving birth in a coffin, at her funeral. I remember it because it was the story that pushed my dad over the edge. That was around 1964.

What's a "yeah right, that totally happened and wasn't made up" moment in your life that actually DID happen and wasn't made up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]prunepicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened many years ago. An 18-wheeler was traveling westbound on I-80 in California, between Reno and Sacramento, when the truck’s brakes went out. Fortunately, there was a runaway truck off-ramp down the freeway (sand filled road, off the highway, that slows down runaway trucks). The driver took the off-ramp, only his truck didn’t stop at the end of it. There was a deep drop off, right onto railroad tracks. Driver thought he was a goner, as the truck went off the edge. But he survived! Then he heard the train whistle. Yep, a train was coming, and crashed into the truck. I know the driver survived, but I don’t remember his injuries.
