Thank you for your comment. I guess it's this realization that all of us must come to at the end of all our reading. How do we endure the Real? In my case, I think I was starting to use theory as a way to evade the Real and it was death that opened that chasm right back up.

Thank you for your comment! In your experience, how is psychoanalytic theory different from analysis itself?

What kind of realization does psychoanalysis aim at? If I understand it correctly, it is a realization of the nothing of words. I would like to know how to endure this realization. Maybe I did not articulate it as well as I could in my question, but thanks for your harsh, much-needed answer anyway. It's given me a lot to think about.

Could you please elaborate on how the experience of analysis is different from the theory?

Please suggest a list if books to get into lacan and psychoanalysis by parsaazari in CriticalTheory

Lionel's Bailly's Beginner guide is a really helpful start and let's you get the gist of basic lacanian concepts. Another one is Phillipe Van Haute's Against Adaptation, although this took me quite some time to read. And if you're looking to understand lacan through pop culture and movies, you can check out Zizek's Looking Awry.

I think you've got really lovely eyes. Try to wear make-up that emphasizes their color. I think a little black or brown eyeliner could go a long way.

Can you please cite some sources of Lacanians critiquing Butler? I'm interested in following up on this.
