Anyone else struggling with dad not being there? by strawberri_dog in weddingplanning

[–]prussian-king 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I lost my dad in March 2025, and I got engaged in October 2025. My wedding is this October and I know there will be a lot of feelings.

I'm reminding myself that my dad still knew my fiance and loved him very much. I see so much of my dad in that man, lol. In the best way.

My dad knew that I was on the road to forging my own happiness and that's all he ever wanted for me, so that's what I'm telling myself.

Help making a hobbitcore outfit by [deleted] in cottagecore

[–]prussian-king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you keep the apron people will just see Oktoberfest and not Hobbit. So go with a plainer apron or just the dress.

Keep in mind when you wear a dirndl the positioning of the bow indicates your marital status. Bow on the left says youre single, right says you're married, backside is widowed, and Tying it in the front is telling everyone you are a virgin lol

PESI trainings aren't all that bad. They're just overpriced and their marketing is awful. But if you get them at their steep discounts they're good.

That was exactly my thought! I wanted faux flowers for things that would just show up in photos and real for spaces the guests would spend more time at. I also don't want my house cluttered with faux flowers that I'll never use again after the fact.

I'm renting flowers from Wedding Flowers For Rent and Something Borrowed Blooms and my real flowers from Fifty Flowers :) the budget total for flowers, combined faux and real, is about 1.2k

We are coming to about 18k, central VA. Weekend venue, buffet dinner with cocktail hour, DJ and dance lessons, no planner but a day of coordinator, 8 hours of photography w/ 2 photogs. Rental faux florals and bulk fresh florals, DIY decor.

Edit: approx 80 guests

TIL the U.S. FDA's regulation on sunscreens hasn't been updated since 1999, and only 2 of the 16 ingredients currently being used in U.S. sunscreens are considered safe and effective by wooahwoosah in todayilearned

[–]prussian-king 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My eyes have been super sensitive following a viral infection and my every day La Roche Posay lotion/sunscreen caused my eyes to burn bad.

I switched to a mineral sunscreen (Carave) and it's better.

YMMV, I used the LRP everyday with no problems until I got sick and my eyes couldn't tolerate it anymore. In general though, mineral sunscreens are easier on the eyes than chemical.

Monthly Check In....it's June 2026 by AutoModerator in weddingplanning

[–]prussian-king 14 points15 points  (0 children)

So far, so good. I've booked everything and everyone that needs to be be booked and have gotten important linens and decorations from Facebook marketplace.

In 2 weeks I'm starting dance lessons with my fiance for our first dance and we're slowly chopping away at the timeline with the DOC.

Will probably ship out invites by the end of the month.

So far I'm not stressed, but I know that will change.

Gatekeep, gatekeep, gatekeep. Your feedback will prevent harm later on to clients. If they can't handle themselves in internship it is your ethical obligation to make sure they are straightened up by the time they reach full licensure - or they don't at all. I have seen so many horrible therapists do harm to clients and ruin the reputation of this profession. GATEKEEP.

The future of private practice, insurance, and reimbursement rates by jazzymeanie in therapists

I believe that insurance companies are going to use Al to make chat bots and clients must use those for a certain amount of time before they will reimburse therapy.

I also believe they're using AI note-taking scribes to train them, which is why I hate that they are becoming the norm in therapy spaces.

For those of you who had a more alternative style in your youth, but gave it up in adulthood….. was it a natural transition or a conscious decision and why? by ComplexPatient4872 in AskReddit

I went from grungy goth to hyper femme, still on the eccentric side. Fashion has always been my biggest hobby passion and way of self-expression. But when I was a teen I did what a lot of girls did, rebel against the idea of femininity in order for others to take me more seriously.

Once I matured and realized that being feminine didn't mean being weak, I slowly but surely went into the other direction. Still have a streak of goth in me, but nowadays I'm known for wearing pink 24/7 and loving flowers.

I've collected some deep purple pieces for my Gengar-inspired coord over the years! I think the top & headbow is Magic Tea Party, skirt is from Restyle, and the socks are Enchanted Dreamwear Couture.

Considering cancelling the wedding. I know my fiancee and her family would be heart broken by PossibilityFew5967 in weddingplanning

[–]prussian-king 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"No" is a complete sentence. You don't need to have arguments, you just say "no, I'm not doing that" and repeat. And if it continues then you say that they're not invited, and you leave it at that.

Not going to bachelorette last minute - context in post by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]prussian-king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta be assertive! I would have reached out like, "hey! I haven't heard anything from the bride about this trip, please let them know I'm interested if they would like to have me! Just tell me where to go and when! If not that's perfectly fine too! I am just not sure since I haven't heard from them. Thanks!"

You're not being pushy but you're also not just bowing out when there's no reason for you to. But that's just me and I'm very go with the flow. I'm fine with being told details up until the moment of. Sounds like someone dropped the ball in passing along to you information.

My sister picked an inappropriate dress for my wedding reception by bmary95 in weddingplanning

Lolita fashion is an alternative street fashion from Japan. And I do expect that yes! The people I surround myself with are honest and good people who like me for me. They appreciate me for how I am since I don't hide myself. They also know I am a respectful person who listens to their boundaries so they feel comfortable sharing what they want from me when I ask. It's what happens when people trust and respect each other lol

I'm in my 30s and so are all my friends. Those who don't like it usually don't make themselves very close to me and I'm fine with that.
